I have been a city boy all my lilfe and now have the Blessing to be in the country air. I have 17 acres that is mostly wooded and is crying for upgrades. I bought an Allis-Chalmers 180 tractor and have no idea how to use it. I did read up and think I needed a 3 point hitch, front loader, and two "remotes".

What is a remote and what is it used to do?

Is there a new tractor owner guide I can do some fast learning or do you have any other ideas to get a fast launch?

remotes are the ends of the hydraulic lines on the tractor, that some implements / attachments require, to run the hydraulic cylinders on the implements / attachments. for example to raise and lower a wheel/s, or to angle a blade that has a hydraulic cylinder vs an old pin you remove and swivel the blade manually.

Welcome to Tractor University! Other than reading the posts here, go visit a dealer(s) and ask questions. You will learn a lot- about tractors and about dealers:laughing:

Get a copy of your Allis owners manual; most of them have really basic info (how to start it, for example), and what all those levers and knobs and pedals do, safety info, etc.

Like anything, from riding a bike to marriage, there is a learning curve. And, as you probably have already dicovered rtight here, there is no such thing as a dumb question!
