Grass takes a lot of HP because the duty cycle is very hi ... but seriously, Where are the trees and brush? My BX1500 MMM would handle that grass.

REALLY?? You mean it would until it over heated and puked!!!

I had a L2850 on that SAME cutter in that same grass and after an hour it started to over heat and I assure you "that" tractor was in top shape with the cooling system clean and working properly! Don't even try to tell me that my tractor had something wrong with it! That compact tractor was over loaded with that cutter in that grass! Are you saying your BX has more nuts than a 2850??? lol

You forgot the smiley face. :)
... No, I was drawing a distinction - not kidding. A rotary cutter will cut grass. Anything will, at a rate commensurate with HP. It takes true robustness to deal with the impacts inherent in tree cutting. Such is the realm of a good bushog.

Yes. The cooling system on the BX1500 is adequate. Progress of course would have been slower due only about 10PTOHP

I'd rather go slow or cut it twice (once high and then lower), than have to break out the weedeater and do all of the edges of everything I hog down because my tractor was too wide to get up close... I muchly prefer having to only trim around fence posts than a foot wide swath down each side of a fencerow.

I think his tire setting has more to do with the terrain he has to traverse than worrying about weedeating.

And let's admit it, a BX cutting that grass would be totally inefficient. It would take 30 minutes to cut the swath he pictured.

I like my cutter outside my tires. I'm 50% there. I use a 10' on the 90" wide Kubota. I use a 6' on the 80" wide Ford. All depends on uses.

Don't underestimate 20 something HP tractors. My Kioti CK20 running a 48" bush hog could travel pretty much as fast as a 40hp running a 75" flail through similar high grass. The BX actually has more HP so should be just as fast.

I suppose wider then the tires would be nice on that last pass around the fence line. The rest of the time the tires on one side are on what has already been cut and on the other doing a good job of bending down bushes for the next pass.I have adjusted the sway lings to pull the cutter as far to the right as it will go and am only missing about six to eight inches which around old neglected fence lines probably saves me a bit of mowing old barbed wire. This is what It looked like before I adjusted the links.

I never underestimate any tractor. I have a 20 something, 40 something and 90 something. They each have their place. My point is to recognize that place and don't fool yourself into believing one can do all things the other can.

You can chop down a Redwood with a hand hatchet, but would you?

I suspect that you arrived at this exaggerated point thru some flaw in interpretation.
