Rotary Cutter. 6' or 5'

I suspect that you arrived at this exaggerated point thru some flaw in interpretation.

What?

Which part of my statement do you believe to be flawed Sir???

I never underestimate any tractor. I have a 20 something, 40 something and 90 something. They each have their place. My point is to recognize that place and don't fool yourself into believing one can do all things the other can. You can chop down a Redwood with a hand hatchet, but would you?
Your example is off. More appropriate would be to question whether a 20 hp tractor with 48" mower is capable of cutting six foot high grass or if a more powerful machine is needed. Answer is pretty clear. Of course it can and many people use 20hp tractors to do exactly that.

Can a pickup truck carry lumber home from a box store or do you need to use a large flatbed for a task that "big"?

Well, if you are hauling OSB and the stack is 6' tall, you need a large flatbed!!

My example might have been a bit extreme. But then, Rob didn't say how many acres of that grass he has?? So we are all assuming it's a small patch. What if it's 500 acres?? Are you going to attempt to cut it with the mmm/BX1500 then?? Of course not.

What if the lumber you need to carry is to build a 5000 sq ft house and a 3000 sq ft shop and a 4000 sq ft barn with loft?? Are you going to use a pickup?? Of course not.

When I took the pict., I had about 10 acres total left to cut. I wonder how many puked BX's it would have taken before the job was done??? lol

And/or days in the seat. :)

I'm certainly not discrediting the abilities of a BX1500 or any other 20 something HP tractor. I love my JD2210. But would never consider cutting my 40 acres of CRP with it.

IF my memory serves me right, the BX1500 has something like 10 or 11 pto HP... I guess I can sell all of my tractors and just buy a BX?? lol

I would get a 6 foot, but I don't have any land in terrible shape. I don't even own a bush hog. My finish mower mows everything I need to mow. I have spent plenty of time helping my grandpa bush hog his 20 acre field with his 25 hp Kubota with a 5 foot cutter.

Believe he mentioned he was cutting a deer feed area he maintained. Ir he maintains 500 acres of feed lot, I'm gonna be might impressed.

Yes, size equipment for the job. Too big is as bad as too small.
