I have a NH TZ24DA subcompact (24 hp)with a 60 inch belly mower. I want a rotary mower for rougher work. Will this tractor support a 5 foot "bushhog" type mower or should I go with a four foot mower?

I have a TC24. It also has 24 HP. I run a 4' behind of it. Most of the time I could probably run a 5', but I did some cutting on Saturday that even my little 4' was bogging it and I had to slow down. First time I had ever done that. So power wise, I think you could probably use a 5' - maybe taking smaller bites. But weight wise, I don't think the TZ series could handle a 5' hanging that far back - even with the loader on. I think you had better stay with the 4'.

I agree with Jim. I have a 5' rotary that I use, without the loader on, the tractor (TC33) seems a little light in the front. Greg

If you were only clipping pasture grass on a flat land.. then 5' rotary is probably ok.. but 4' is going to be easier and safer.

Thanks, Guys. My first post and great feedback. This forum seems like a great resource. Think I'll go with the 4'. Was looking for a used one and the four footers are not nearly as plentiful as the fives.

If it waas just a hp issue.. you could always take a 4' cut with a 5' mower.. however inthis case.. it is coming down to a weight issue.. tail wagging the gog.. etc.

I think you are making a good choice ont he 4'

happy hunting!
