I have a large cement driveway and approach but unfortunately live on a dirt road. How well does a rotary sweeper clean cement off of dirt? It takes forever to power wash.
Thanks

The firm I work for does road construction, and we routinely use a pto sweeper on a tractor to sweep asphalt and concrete... works excelent.. keep in mind that the bristles are being forced against a good abrasive, and wear excessively ( by design ).
Not sure how much you are sweeping, or how often you would need replacement... but my guess is, an occasional sweep won't effect the brooms that bad, but yet will provide a good sweep.

"clean cement off of dirt"
To get cement(concrete) off dirt I usually use a jackhammer or backhoe/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. A rotary broom would probably take forever/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. Since I don't live on a dirt road, I really can't answer your question. I can give you a hard time though/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif. Your pal C
Haha good one Worksmart You just better look out though I'll be looking to target any little mistakes you make
Anybody know how much Kubota's sweeper goes for? Or should I look at a different brand?
I have a 60" Sweepster which works great - gets any surface quite clean - would work even better on something smooth like cement. It has plastic bristles.
The unit is front-mounted, driving from the rear pto with a shafte running forward. I had adjusted all it's little brackets, etc. so it fit on my first Kubota (L345DT). I sold the tractor
to a neighbor a few years ago - but I borrow it back for a day every spring to clean up with the broom.
Best results are when there is a nice breeze blowing in a favorable direction to carry away the dust cloud that it makes. Even with that, the tractor gets pretty loaded - so hang on to that pressure washer /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Kubota L4610 HSTC, International 2400, Hesston 1280,
I have a lot of paved driveway also. Have been wanting a sweeper for years. Have been using my high pressure washer, mostly for some time. Today I put together a pto driven blower, to work on my L4610 hstc. I may make a few minor changes, but I think I have hit pay dirt this time.
I had an old belt driven woods finish mower that I discarded about 10 yr ago. Mounted an old heavy duty, belt drive air conditioner blower to one side, so as to line up the pulleys. The pto shaft turns a 21" pulley, which drives a 6" pulley on the squirrl cage blower.
Better be careful about walking in front of the blower if you leave the pto running near 540 rpm. It will nearly blow your feet out from under you.
So far I have less than a days work & a few welding rods in this job & swept the drive in air conditioned comfort.
