Rotator Cuff Surgery?

Not an easy ride home. But you did the right thing. Have seen quite a few vehicles getting hit downstream from accidents. Once a young couple were killed, these two weren't involved in the accident. All they did was stopped to help, very tragic.

Go easy with the rehab. The pain killers are doing their job now, but will wear off. Buckle up, may be a rough ride when they're gone.

what I've been wearing after my rotor cuff surgery is a zip up jogging suit.Just put your arm that had surgery in the sleeve 1st.Then I put my sling on after.I had my surgery on Jan.5th and I'm doing good.I have PT twice a week.They are still just keeping it from locking up and should start on building up the strength in about a week. Good luck with yours,it does get better.

I've been thru with the PT for rotator cuff injury. But just wondering...what did people do 100 years ago about such an injury? I think people did more physical work than today and those kind of injuries must have been common?

Well, I woke up on Monday the 14th with sharp pain in what I thought to be my right lung. Xrays, a CT scan and ultrasound confirmed my suspicion that I had a blood clot.

So, it's been a twice daily shot of Lomenox in my stomach with increasing daily doses of cumidin to get my blood thinned out and to disolve the clot(s) which were from excess drainage. They finally got my blood up closer to two and discharged me today, the 20th. They wanted 2 but settled for what they got I guess.

I have to follow up with more testing and at least one more shot along with three months of cumidin.

Talk about a lost week.

Now, in addtion to the shoulder therapy, I need to get on a diet low in vitamin K which includes many of my favorite foods. I also need to follow up my the soft bone issue that complicated my surgery with some bone density testing. Two doctor visits and a therapy session tomorrow. Looks like that will be my life style for the next few months or so.

Looking back to last fall and into the winter, I am realizing that my energy level was pretty low. I did feel a little off but thought it was just the shoulder bothering me. When I went for a physical prior to setting up the surgery, I had not really discussed this much with my regular doctor since I had not considered the whole picture. So, even though the blood clot was a direct result of the surgery, it brought other issues to light.

Not all bad though. I have enough flex in my shoulder to type with both hands as I am typing this even while wearing the sling/cushion. I got my best night's sleep last night since he last day before surgery though I still need to keep my upper body somewhat propped up.

My wife had both shoulders done a few years ago about 1 year apart I felt sorry for her shes good now thank the good lord and an excellent surgeon.

I am probably in for one here soon also I had my MRI last Friday haven't heard from the doc yet but I know its bad plus its on my strong side naturally.

I slipped in the snow a few weeks ago and haven't got any sleep since and I cant hardly work overhead which my job requires on a daily basis. I am still pretty strong (good sign) but have a lot of pain and limited movement w/o pain. (bad sign)

Being self employed has its advantages but this is one time where I don't know. The 3 various surgery's I had previously I only took a day or so off and was back at work. I have a lot riding on my ability to keep the cash flowing in I don't have employees any more so its liable to be tough.

I did luckily buy a disability insurance policy recently so that may turn out to be a blessing.

(I thought I cursed myself by doing that since I fell soon after though time will tell)

Ya I hear ya,I slept upright on the couch for about three weeks,couldn't stand lying flat.Hang in there it gets better....keep up the PT you won't reget it.
