Rotator Cuff Surgery?

   / Rotator Cuff Surgery? #61
Well, my surgury is scheduled for Feb 9th. I have two tendons to repair, some bone spurs and some bursitis. Doctor suggested four months of downtime. He said I could maybe work light duty in a week or so if available but I could not drive. I offered that there was no way my wife could drive me to work, return home then come back for me in twelve hours. He then said maybe you could drive once you get off the pain meds.

I don't think my employer will go for the risk of having me on site nor can I see where I would be of much use. My employer has no clue that this is coming. Though I have two years of perfect attendance, good reviews, lots of accolaids, etc., the way things are these days, I did not feel safe giving any heads up. I work in quality control and for various reasons, our group is bare bones with no backup as opposed to production, maint, etc. Oh' well.

I was off 6 weeks and was golfing the seventh week! same thing u had. make sure u have a lazy boy chair and use lots of ice and the first week dont do anything! good luck

Thought I would bring this thread back up and maybe offers some encouragement to anyone else going through this.

I went back to work full time but with a restriction on weight on May 2nd, a week shy of three months after surgery. For the most part, since I do quality control work, I don't have to lift much over 20lbs anyway.

My surgeon is pretty much amazed having put me on the "watch list" of patients that delayed surgery way to long and were expected to be out of action for at least four to six months. But, I had a really good therapist and did the work. In fact, the therapist cut me loose yesterday saying just keep up the work.

Mind you, I need to watch what I do and won't be throwing no fast ball or any ball for that matter. I'll be paying an extra dollar a bale for my horse hay to have someone else put it up in the barn. I am changing the way I have been doing things and selling equipment like my scaffolding that I don't need to be climbing anymore.

Overall though, it's all good.
