I believe that the person who owned the tractor that Messick's took in would agree with you. The tractor sucked a wix oil filter in and blew the engine. Not a good example of oil filtration.

Messick's didn't mention the outcome of that incident, just that it happened. I would guess that Wix would have a hard time denying a claim like that!

Yeah, I'd hate to see what would have happened if they had a Fram on it. Since I work with service departments about every single day I'd say that about 99.9% of all techs wouldn't have anything Fram on their own vehicle after seeing how poorly they are made. I suppose there are some people who buy their oil and filters completely on price alone. That explains why Fram is still in business.
If you are curious about the oil filters, cut them apart and see for yourself. You will find that Fram have about half of the media of other brands of filters. I know they say that the cardboard isn't effected by oil but media glued on cardboard just kind of bugs me. Even if you don't worry about that, I don't like how much media they are leaving out for filtering.
I still use there and would not have issues. From a simple tractor to a brand new ES350....If UOA came back weird I would say sure, but if I have a WIX, supertech, Pureone, etc there are very close.
I take techs world with anything (grain of salt)...I had tech at Kubota tell me one thing and Kubota's own maual say something 100% diff.
Okay, but show me a UOA that says they are poor. Cardboard or not, show me how, that is HOW it filters...

Take what you will with a bucket of salt. When I see damage done and documentation along with TSBs, as I said, I have more faith in a used beer can stuffed with paper towels than Fram filters. If you can't find a few hundred complaints in just a few minutes about Fram filters letting oil drain back due to their poor design (and causing upper engine noise at startup), you're not looking. There are thousands of cases of where Fram oil filters are proven junk. All you have to do is look. When tests prove that Walmart house brand is far superior to Fram, Fram has issues!
I agree but there are more then frams that cause engine noise at start up. Even some beloved OEM filters do this so that is BS. We have been through this before dargo.
I have used Amsoil EaO on an engine and used a fram..The UOA are very close. They are not made as well as Amsoil but again, Amsoil is 4X the price so that is expected. Was the results 4X better with Amsoil (donalson) nope.
I can play the same deal with using Amsoil too and the scare posts from others on what if and I see it daily.
I have read many online posts about Fram from users. Problem is most does not show anything but opinions without facts.
This is like Amsoil people, Redline etc, saying if I used other oils my engine will have problems or watch out...unreal.
I also do not but much faith in TSB too. several times they are wrong or there fix is worse then before. YMMV
