I am a first time "ruralite" in Northern San Diego in SoCal. I have 3 acres to tackle. I have one acre that is ex-corral and flat, one which is sloped and full of fruit trees and stones and one acre that is slopped, treed, lumpy, bumpy and soft soiled. What the heck is there out there for a house poor (cheap) novice (clueless) to tackle ALL that? I am really ready to tackle this!

Welcome!

I'm a bit of a forum newbie, but have had my tractor for about 3.5 years. I'm also in the San Diego area.

I bought a JD2305 (new) for use with our 1.5 acre place (Santee/Lakeside) and it's worked well. We have horses, so I move manure and hay. I also have a tiller, auger, rotary mower and a set of forks; my neighbor borrows it (often) to cut his five acres and tills his garden every year (I get lots of veggies).

The 2305 is low profile and holds pretty good on the slopes -- our lot has three terraces and is on a canyon.

That said, we just closed on a 5.5 acres parcel that's mostly flat further east (out by Laguna) and are moving out there with the critters. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a JD3038e 'cause I want a little oomph and will have more work to do.

So, if the 2305 is in your budget, mine might be available soon. The dealer 'mentioned' it was probably worth about $12k (year 2008, 500 hours, 200CX loader and 48" box blade.) :D

Regards,

Mark
