Rounded off drain plug

Will there be a happy ending to this plug saga someday?

Lol. Forums are certainly unpredictable. Some threads just go on and on and on forever and others that you think would be worthy of a lengthy discussion/exchange never make it past the first page. I think this should have been wrapped up long ago.

Try vise grips. Nope
Try a pipe wrench. Nope
Try a grinder. Nope
Try a drill bit and easy out. Nope
Slot the end and use a screwdriver. Nope
Drill a giant hole almost the size of the threads and cut the leftover piece out. Nope
Heat it with a torch. Nope
Freeze it with liquid N. Nope

My personal favorite...Send it to the scrapyard and get a new tractor!

If it was me I either would have moved that crosspiece out of the way or sent out for help long ago. I understand the frustration of time/financial constraints, yet the OP is just compounding his problems by continuing the way that he is going.

I've quite clearly said on page 12 that other issues have cropped up making this drain plug less a priority. I'll repeat it here: truck is in the shop, tire tube needs replaced on the tractor before i run it to a shop down the road to have the idea of welding a nut onto the plug looked into. I'm not compounding the problem by continuing anything since as of right now, there's not much I can do in regards to the tractor since I have no mode of transportation. I'm simply not doing anything to it.

I misunderstood. You're recent picture of the rounded off plug led me to believe that you were still trying it.
I understand priorities, I'm way behind on my projects because I had to wait a year to replace my old 275.

Kando, just because your using logic to not compound the problem doesn't mean plenty here aren't still going to offer advise, lol. I would of suggested trying to tighten it just a bit 10 pages ago to see if it would break free but now, I would have a shop do it when it fits your schedule.

I have no problem with people still pitching in, I'm honestly surprised the thread has gone even half as far as it has. I do enjoy seeing replies and coming back to see someones $0.02. Just trying to set things straight about where I am with the project.

Something I should clarify, the plug isn't seized, it was over-tightened, massively. Malicious family members. Shed has been chained and locked to prevent further issue there. Head of the plug was stripped a bit as a result of the over-tightening and further torn up from me trying to remove it.

Do appreciate the replies.

As for taking the tractor to scrap and replacing, anyone willing to donate about $50,000 for the cause?

We will start a go fund me page for you and your tractor:D Now what tractor do you want ?

Suggest U might start a 'Go Fund Me' page, seems popular way of getting funds for projects.

You just have to be able to write a good sob story.

Like, my wife will leave me if I can't get the drain plug out and I can't afford a divorce so please help me so that I can buy a new tractor as my present one needs a drain plug special removal tool which I don't have.

When I was a kid we'd do paper routs to afford a school trip.
Today they use 'go fund me' or kids parents sell raffle tickets at the corner store.

Back in the 1950's or 1960's, I think my sister's French club raised money for the trip there by having bake sales, rummage sales and car washes.

Ay, Yai, Ayi! 15 pages of the same suggestions over and over. If I wasn't already several thousand miles away from home baking my brain in the sun and surf, I'd fly myself home, get my Snap-on tools, fly out to wherever the bolt is and remove it- if for no other reason than to put an end to this thread. We're using up what's left of the space left on the internet here guys!

What is the urgent need to replace the trans fluid on this tractor? It's probably been in there since factory new, right?

Order of priorities: 1. fix truck. 2. take tractor tire and tube and wallet and 'ole Yeller to store and get tire and tube attached to rim. Buy xtra qt. high fat milk. 3 drive home. Put key in tractor ignition, put wallet in overalls, put air in tire/tube. Unlock barn- let tractor out. Drive tractor to Jefrows and have him weld one of his nutz to the pointy thing where the trans drain plug used to be. Pay Jefrow 295/380 whichever moves him, and head back to barn before the vandals tie 'ole yeller to your truck and go moonshinin' up in dem dare hills!
Case closed, thread over- peace in the known Universe.

Oh wait, all other drain plugs may be the same- but they're WRONG too! Those protruding threads indicate, IMO, pipe thread plugs jammed and overtightened into the holes where correct plugs should be. Part of why you can't get the plug to back out. If there was a problem with someone sabotaging your tractor; chances are they did it to ALL your drain holes....just saying....show us pics of the other plugs in the other holes.
