A pipe wrench is the only tool for this job. Throw all the other pliers away. If the op had started with a pipe wrench this thread would have never existed.

One trick I have used with a pipe wrench and would do if I was working on this, using the largest wrench that would fit in the area which is what will work, get a metal slug or plug of the same size or a tiny bit smaller. Because a large pipe wrench is going to have a wide jaw that will not stay square on the existing plug use an object of similar size in the jaws below the plug so the wrench stays on and pulls squarely.
