No, it'll take 500 post to determine how to get the support piece out of the way first.

Hopefully by then somebody will come over and weld a nut, or handle, onto the nub for him.

Kando, wash the tractor thoroughly so there's no oil dribbling down there and the eventual, unavoidable welding doesn't set it on fire! That would start the drama all over again.

The most important thing is adjusting the jaws for maximum squeeze.

A pipe wrench is the only tool for this job. Throw all the other pliers away. If the op had started with a pipe wrench this thread would have never existed.

The pliers I prefer would work just as well, but they are kinda pricey....KNIPEX Tools LP - KNIPEX

Tips for spinning the tractor? With the recent snowfall it should be easy enough.

For the posts voting again grinding a flat edge on the plug, I'm not planning on taking anything more than the amount built up from previous attempts.
