Rounded off drain plug

Back to Kandos's basic problem: He never mentioned his welding skills or outside resource for such as far as I can remember. In my pipe fitting days we occasionally encountered fittings that just would not bulge, short of collapsing totally, no matter what we tried. Solution: Drill out to inside diameter size, get a forged steel coupling size to fit over the existing and cut it in half, set over the existing and weld all around, ala, new drain hole. Due to the thinness of an oil pan O/A or TIG the weld method of choice.

IIRC it’s a tranny case so thinness shouldn’t be a prob. But I’m not familiar with his tractor...

I wonder if Kando was able to remove the round bar that was hindering access to the plug? He posted a pic early on and said he thought it could be removed. If not, it looks and any drilling or tapping into the hole would be difficult at best.

Welding; cut the bar out and then weld it back, easy stuff.

Would not be easy for me laying on my back, trying to weld it .

Thanks for reposting that pic Xfaxman.

Looks like a cast pan with reinforced boss for the female thread.

I’ll stand by my original suggestion of HEAT the PLUG quickly and twist off with pipe wrench or almost any of the other gripping tools suggested multiple times.

If I lived near him, I might sneak over, remove plug, replace with new one... of course I would have to replace fluid so he didn't run it and damage something due to low fluid.

Just an update on Holiday Inn Express, so far no reports of Kando staying there
