Apples & Oranges. My main use for a Roxor would be around our property off road.I believe it would be a better choice at $$16,000-$18,000 than a new $23,000 Kubota 1100 cab model. When i purchased my 2006 Kubota RTV 900 it was no where near them $$ they want now.

Not a lot of miles doing that. A used 4x4 pickup is what I use for firewood and hauling stuff. Paid $3500 with a plow and had it 5 years. Can get parts cheaply on line if needed. I have another $1500 into it but it is still worth $2500....cost of ownership $500/year. My Polaris cost me over $20k (with plow, cab and repairs) and I got $8500 for it after 8 years...cost of ownership three times as high...and I can drive the pickup to Home Depot or wherever. Plus it has heat, AC, wipers and washers.

The chassis has been cheapened along with powertrain.

What specifically have they changed? I do understand that it's different from the more modern Jeeps. I'm curous how it has been "downgraded" from the older designs on which it was based.

Great marketing ploy on Mahindra's part though. They actually have people believing they are buying a Jeep. Including some on here. :)

I'm not aware of anyone who thinks it's actually a Jeep. What I'm hearing is that it might be an interesting value for the money, especially for someone with some nostalgia for the old Willys Jeep. They main drawback being that it is not street-legal.

Not to dodge the question, just letting potential buyers search for themselves.

Does it have power steering?
Does it have power brakes?
Are the brakes drum or disc?
What drive axles does it use front/rear?
What transfer case does it use?
Is the transfer case a 2 speed?
What gear ratio are the axles?
What gear ratio is the low side in the T case?
Does it have a heater?
Does it have a top, if so what type?
Does it have a radio?
Does it have a power plug to run a hand light or charger?
Does it have a fuel gauge?

I'll quit rambling. Just brainstorming questions I would have.

So read it for yourself and get a little educated before you pee all over something you don't know about.

Comparing it to a new model pavement princess Jeep (pronounced "HEEP" for a reason), or comparing it to the original Willy's pattern?

I've had 4 Jeeps in my lifetime. A 64, 77, 90, and a 2000. Other than the jump from the 64 to the 77, they got steadily crappier as the years went forward. The new ones are fit for soccer moms and mall cruisers. No one wants a "real Jeep" anymore.

From the Roxor tech sheet, which took me all of 30 seconds to search for and find:

Power Steering? YES (my old Willy's didn't)
Power Brakes? YES (my old Willy's didn't)
Brakes disk or drum? DISK FRONT/DRUM REAR (my old Willy's was drum/drum)
Don't know which axles or transfer case...
Is the transfer case a 2 speed? YES
Axle ratios are 3.73's

Read the rest of it for yourself:

Doubt I'll buy one, but I think they're pretty neat, and I like the idea of it.

I used to use a Polaris 800XP but a few years ago got a beater pickup truck. It is street legal, has heat, AC, wipers, washers, and takes a bigger load of wood. Stopped using the UTV. Cost with a plow was $3500 and have put $1500 into it in the last 4 years. I took it on a 400 mile round trip this summer to pickup a used back blade, six tires and 4 rims for my JD855. Try that with a UTV.

This!

11 years ago I bought a 93 Suburban for $6000. I drive it almost daily. Have a total of $7000 in 11 years. Hauls a lot of stuff with the seat folded down. Hauls 8 people with the seats up and in. Hauls the car hauler trailer with the tractor on it. Hauls 5000# of firewood on the trailer. Goes through the woods with no fear of scratching the paint. It's been on several multi-thousand mile trips. It's UGLY. Who cares? It works.

I'd seriously consider, as others have mentioned, getting an older used Jeep before spending $20K on that machine.

Of course I meant used. With that cleared up, a $10K used Jeep will outlast three Roxors.

Here's my Son's $1,500 Jeep that he drives to work and pleasure.

Now I have to ask where do you find a $1500 Jeep that still works?

That's a nice looking machine.

Seriously, they go for closer to $10K around here if they are in even somewhat decent shape.
