I priced this( Royal Purple) at $22.55 per gallon.

Amsoil is $5.35 per quart but then there is shipping or an 80 mile round trip involved as there is not anyone close that handles it.

I can give them $60.00 and become a Dealer but I know You have been that route , apparently that tells me it is too much trouble to fool with, not to mention in this area only a few will pay the price for it.

I can go to Chevron 15 w 40 as there is a bulk plant close (14 miles).
To me this is a hard decision as I want good oil but I also want a supplier close by.

Well first off I think you can become a “preferred customer” for a lot less. I think, since I am not a dealer, it is like $25 maybe

#2 Chevron 15 w 40 (dello?). Dello is a hydrocracked oil and good but still a long way off from a group4/5. I get Amsoil 15w-40 for around $17.50 per gallon.

Here is Chevron: Link

Why do you want oil, “closeby”?????I can have it very quick and also many many people/stores carry it (around here). Even if I persoanlyl had to pay shipping, that is nothing. My time and gas are worth more; so shipping is cheaper.

I don't want to have to keep track of all the purchases on account of taxes...........Usage taxes to be perfectly honest.

Small amount for the hassle of keeping files on it.

The preferred customer status for Amsoil is $20.00 per year.
The oil in My machine is changed every 25 hours including the oil and air filter, Fuel Filters are changed twice a year.

I know you will think this is a waste but it is the way I want to maintain it. Overkill I know ! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I already run Delo 400 30w for Hot weather but I certainly am interested in a multigrade Synthetic.

An Oil sample went to Blackstone this morning in order to see what is going on before the warranty is out .

yes, it you itemize on taxes, yes you would want to keep track.

Is changing your oil at waste at 25 hours? Could be could not be, depends on the oil used along with air and oil filters.

here is a dello test, unsed:
Aluminum 1ppm
Barium 0ppm
Boron 0ppm
Calcium 3343 ppm
Chromium 0ppm
Copper 0ppm
Flashpoint-450F
Iron 1ppm
Lead 0ppm
Magnesium 23ppm
Molybdenum 0ppm
Nickle 0ppm
Phophorous 1116ppm
Potassium 0ppm
Silicon 5ppm
Silver 0ppm
Sodium 1ppm
Tbn 10.63
Tin 0ppm
Titanium 0ppm
Vanadium 0ppm
VIS@100C">VIS@100C 15.95cSt
Vis@210F-80.5
Zinc 1329ppm

Good basestock but add package needs some work. I would use RP over dello if I had to select from these 2 oils.

Dello is also a group 2+ oil.

Blackstore or OAI.

If your changing every 25 hours instead of what is recommended for many of us and that is 100 hours, why would you go to a more expensive synthetic oil, more overkill? I'm just curious. I assume you do not put on many hours a week as I would have to change oil once a week or so lately at your intervals. I assume even 100 hours is overkill since the manufactuer warranties it for 2 or 3 years and if anything, will error on the safe side. At any rate, my old International, a 1973 with thousands of hours had Delo 15W40 and cannot say it ran any better or worse after many thousands of hours. It always ran and ran well.

Rat,
I have 187.0 hours in almost 3 years since delivery.

Before this I had a B2150 I kept for 11 years with 360 or so hours when I sold it in order to downsize, It had always had Delo in it .....Never a problem of any kind, But then that isn't many hours at all.

I was thinking a synthetic might be better lubrication as this one is going to be with me a very long time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I also wash and wx the little fella quite often.
