I need this yoke for an old RS1205 tiller. Dealers have been no help. It’s a QD 16 spline shaft. I really hate to scrap a tiller just because of a yoke.

What I have is a QD style yoke. How would I keep a slip yoke from slipping off?

Just drill a hole and pin it if you have to. May have to shorten the shaft and make the length to the level position so it at the max length Etc.. Many ways but my guess is your make that decision when you get it. The reason for the 8 spline I have was it was the wrong shaft and had to shorten it to get me by until the correct one was received. I put a Cuff link on this one so I made sure it wouldn't break. My El-Cheapo Harbor Frieght stick welder worked. Not pretty but Hey!!!

Have you checked these web sites out?

I am a professional parts man. Of course I checked the internet. This part is not available anywhere. I tried my normal parts avenues and checked the grey market importers across the country to no avail.

I left it at a local machine shop and they’re going to try and weld a new yoke onto the splined sleeve but it’s cast so who knows how that’ll turn out.
And yeah after I replied I thought about drilling and pinning it which right now that’s “plan b”

Turning the old yoke off and welding on a new one should work just fine, but if it doesn't you could have the shaft turned down smooth and drilled for a shear bolt or cut for a woodruff key and purchase a suitable yoke....

Thanks. I’ll definitely consider that if welding doesn’t work out.

I went out to look good at my old shaft and there a few ways the shop can go about repairing yours. I had to shorten and weld the Shaft itself. And able to do it with a 16th. stick. I'm sure they can weld it or fabricate something else rather easily. Only took me a couple Hrs. if that. Anything you could possibly use this old one for your welcome to it. Fredricks told me to keep it and go ahead and try shortening it until they was able to get the correct one to me. Which they did so I don't have anything in it. Threw it in the Tractor parts box Yrs. ago and wasn't sure I even still had it. Grandma moved back to her Org. Hm. in WV. so I don't have to keep up with a garden or Tiller.

I thought the tiller shafts were 21 splines not 16?
I have a box some where in a warehouse with a couple of almost new tiller shafts.
I know I packed them before we moved, but they are 21 splines I believe.

I have many of these tiller manuals now ... EXCEPT the -05 manuals. I find that odd.

Trust me it’s 16

I would second the idea of taking it to a local shop to repair it or weld it to a new yoke. These days welding has improved a lot, and it would be a pretty straightforward job, even if it is cast. Welding cast material isn't what it used to be.

All the best,

Peter

Don't have a clue but can tell you my old RS1300 has a regular old 6 spline.
