RTV 500 Rattle Sound

Took delivery of my RTV 500 2 days ago, and if I hadn't read all your posts about the rattle I probably would not have noticed it, but yup... I have it. Build date of 4/12/2010. Love it though. I feel that it has the power it should for what it is. No issues thus far, but I haven't really put it to the test yet. Fit and finish is great. The tranny will take a little getting used to. I have a 610 Mule also. 2008 w/ 275 hours, great unit, but really wanted EFI and hydro tranny. Will probably put the Mule on Graigslist for $4500.00 OBO.

Will have to add the RTV to my sig.

That rattle must effect 1 in 10 RTV500s (at best). I have never heard it, and it will take Kubota a long time to find the root cause and do something about it. It's probably the alternator but if it costs $$$ to fix it, it probably will not happen especially since it is not a rampant problem. Part cost trumps part quality more times than not these days, and Kubota is no exception.

I paid $10,200 out the door with factory installed roof, windshield, glass with a lower polycarbonate that detaches to let you lift up the hood(it's really nice), a 2500lb winch,speedometer,brush guard. I didn't bargain with them just took the deal. I would recommend the additional flood lights front and rear and for inside lighting at Wal Mart I paid $6 for a battery powered led light that's touch activated and works great. It's a perfect utility vehicle if they can eliminate the metal knocking noise.

Where did you pick up the lower windshield? I have been looking all over for one. 2011 RTV 500 Camo windshield roof plow LOVE IT.

The lower poly piece comes with the Kubota OEM windshied, the top 2/3 is glass.

Hi Guys, new to the site and just love all the info on here - Thanks! I recently purchased a new RTV500 and traded in a used RTV900... WOW ! I love this thing. It is small enough to zip around my trails, quiet and built like a tank. Getting the windshield ( upper/lower) installed and picking it up later this morning. I need to get a plow for it and does anyone have any other companies that offer an aftermarket package that works well. I have a 1/4 mile long stone driveway so the Kubota plow scares me for what I have read on this site. Thanks a Bunch ! you guys rock !:thumbsup:

The OEM Kubota plow that I had on my 500 was a very heavy duty unit..Appears better built than the one that came with my RTV1100...i have a similar distance and I plowed 2ft-3ft deep snow with my 500...Takes a little, but the plow was heavy enough not to ride up.

Last year I put an American Eagle 60" Country style straight plow and it worked great. I decided to try an American Eagle V-Plow this year, it's an incredibly heavy duty unit...much cheaper than Kubota's blade and it's a V-plow blade:thumbsup:

Thanks - Great Information ! I also just had a aluminum diamond plate roof with the Kubota windshield installed and the front of the roof sticks up like it doesn't fit right. From some of the pictures on here with guys with the polly roof, it looks like it fit's straight with no problems. Here is a pic of the install - what do you guys think?

I've got the poly roof and I'm not sure it really fits much tighter than the diamond plate you've got...hard to say. I like the poly one, a roof is a must have in my opinion...really worth having on the rainy, sunny, and snowy days.:thumbsup:

Nice roof Goose....I like that..Especially the front "gutter"...OEM should have that.

Thanks!! I think once the rear window is installed ( looking for one if you can recommend anything ) it will raise up the rear a little and make it look like it's not so tilted. Man, i love this thing !! The kids had a blast with it all weekend , I have a stereo / CD player installed right under the roof and my kids love crankin their music as they drive around the woods..

I bought a Poly rear windshield for mine...Liked it, but it sure scratched easy...Most of the ATV/UTV online stores have them..Expensive....I really don't remember where I bought mine

I had a hunch this would work - I saw a UTV front windshield made by Quad Gear Extreme at the Gander Mountain shop. It is a universal front windshield ( vinyl ). It fit the rear of the 500 " PERFECT" and it couldn't fit any better. The best part, it was $49.00. Nice and clear and the vinyl is very large ( not some small opening ).

It is a small ( rated for Rhino, Kawasaki 610 ) measures 26' high by 46.25' wide.

Just wanted to thank MrGoose for the rear window idea. Have been keeping my eye out for something reasonable for a while now and this seemed to fit the bill. Picked it up on Amazon for $35 and some change. I wouldn't want it for a front windshield but it works well for the back. It should keep my back and neck warm and dry now for the winter months. Here's some pics to show what it looks like on the back of a Gator.

I did the same to mine this fall. I had that one from gander on the front last year but when I bought my hard top and front I put it to use in the back. I had to bend the metal rods on the sides though to get it to fit up into my hard top. It keeps the dust/water/snow out great and cheap:thumbsup:

this is the only pic I have of the quad gear windshield, but you can see it behind the headache rack and how my roof is curved in the back.

I made the racks. Couldn't find anything that I liked or even much for accessories at all for that matter. 1x1 tube fits perfect in the back corners of the box.
