Has anyone been able to buy a hard cab for their RTV? For that matter even seen one for sale? My dealer, Zimmerer, has said cab's now won't be available until June! &^%$(*&. I would already have an RTV if they'd had the advertised accessories available. If I have to wait until June I will probably check with Exxex to see if theirs is ready yet. I have an Essex cab on my Mule 550 that I've been very happy with for several years. The price will certainly be better than Kubota's.

I have a hard cab for my RTV. It is a Curtis Cab sold by Kubota. If you go down to the thread, Finally Got My Kubota RTV, I have posted pictures of mine.
I got my cab through my Kubota dealer and it sure is a nice one. I think your dealer has been misinformed or they ( kubota) ran out of stock. You could contact Curtis Cabs direct and see if they have them in stock.

This may sound obvious to some but does the hard cab give you a 360 degree seal from the elements.? Every photo I've seen looks like it's open in the back with just the screen being there. That doesn't sound logical as they also sell a heater and that would not be too efficient.

There is 360 degree protection from the elements and the heater warms it up quite well. The back screen is covered with a Plexiglass window. The windshield and doors are safety glass.

Drove on with the windsheild yesterday. Its expensive, but like the rest of the RTV you can see why. Its good quality and is curved to fit the contours of the cab area.

Yep, excellent posts/advice from RB (Dozernut)! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

BTW, we just got one last week for one of our RTVs (from Curtis Cab) so you should be able to get one as well.

OK - I've been convinced this is the way to go and just put a deposit on a RTV900 Worksite at Ahearn's in Spencer, MA. Even got about $100 off list which I think is a good deal. I'll be using it mainly to plow so I got the steel cab, wiper, heater, HD springs and the plow. Also had them add the bed liner and some work lights.

I hate to spend this much without a test drive but I don't think that can happen as they seem to be sold before they arrive. I test drove a new JD HPX 4x4 and found the steering very heavy. The power steering on the RTV900 should solve that problem

I forgot to ask the salesman but does anyone know what the deal is with the Auxilary Control Valve that's standard on the Turf model. This would be the same as the hydraulic PTO? Can the other models have this added on aftermarket? Does the Worksite model already have the hydraulic system installed seeing how it comes standard with the bed lift?

Lloyd--

My understanding, the "hydraulic control valve" is the same as rear remotes on a tractor. The worksite model comes with the bed lift but only the turf model comes with the control valve. I'm sure the rear remote could be useful for something, but I'm not sure what without a 3. hitch; perhaps Kubota's planning a line of hydraulically-controlled tow-behind implements? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif As to adding them aftermarket, it's surely like plumbing in auxiliary remotes on a tractor.

The only difference between the Worksite and the Turf model, besides the style of tire, is the Control Valve and there's only a $300 difference between the two.

There's no mention of the Control Valve as an option in the Accessory Manual although they do list the Bed Lift as a option for the models that don't have it as standard equipment.

Just curious if the models other that the Turf have the capability to be upgraded with the Control Vave or is there some reason if it's not installed at the factory that it can never be installed.

Well, I stand corrected. They do list the "remote" in the accessory manual. It's the V4244. Some web sites that list the accessories have the V4244 included but I didn't see any that also list the price. The websites that list the prices don't seem to list V4244. On tractorsmart.com they list the bedlift (V4242) for $1200 and the bedlift with remote (V4243) for $1700. That means that the remote should be about $500.

I think that means that all models should be able to have the remote installed. I'm still not 100% sure that the remote and the control valve are one in the same.

thats what i was talking about, if you add the option to the other models its pretty pricey. $1700 list, must get the bed lift and aux remotes together. Kit to add remotes to existing dump is in the works but not available yet.

Lloyd--

I've scanned page 8 of the owner's manual which shows the auxiliary remotes, but can't get the file size small enough to post it /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. The extra remotes (as Neil's post points out, there are two already installed for the bed lift on the worksite model) are called "remote hydraulic outlet (if equipped)" in the manual, but the RTV brochure shows the same thing and calls it a "control valve [which] lets you quickly attach and detach numerous labor-saving implements." Wonder what they are? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Actually, the bed lift remotes are normal standard hydraulic connectors, although smaller than on my tractor, which obviously could be used to power something by simply unplugging the bed lift. Pretty well academic since it's hard to see what you'd pull around and operate with the remotes--Neil, any ideas?

I'm not sure either, I heard talk about a few different things.. but it was just talk. I don't see anything in the current price books about a hydrolic implelement. I have had some people asking for them to custom build sprayers and stuff for the bed.

I don't see why you could not chage the couplers for the bed lift and use that. Pretty good idea if you can mount them in an accessable location.

Well it can only add to the versatility of the RTV900. I looked at the Mule, Gator and Big Country when deciding what to purchase and none of them offered any sort of PTO.

The V4244 hydraulic upgrade kit < http://www.kubota.com/UV900/accessory/pop/v4244.html > will be available @ your local dealer in about a month or less. The hydraulic remote connections (like on a tractor) can be used to hook up hydraulic tools like chain saws, augers and pumps...etc.

I have used a chain saw, auger and pump with the RTV900 remote hydraulic hookups, but I can't remember the brand names or part numbers. They all worked rather well. I think the chain saw was very similar to the Fairmont (Oregon) chain saw (seen in the photo below).

Examples of Low-pressure (flow) Hydraulic Tools:

http://www.fairmont.textron.com/downloads/archive/ds_ma-3977.pdf
http://www.racinetools.com/products-index.asp

I haven't tested these examples but as far as I know they should work given the flow range (GPM) of these tools and Kubota's remote hydraulic valve flow rate of 5.7 GPM (6.2 GPM Max) and Maximum Working Pressure 2990 PSI. So, the Stanley/Lynx Contractor Tools probably will not work at maximum speed given their flow range of 7-9 GPM, but should work fine given their 1000-2000 PSI range. The Fairmont chain saws would work easily given their flow range of 4-8 GPM.

That was some good R&D work...I actually educated myself more on low-pressure hydraulic tools in the process. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I hope this helps y'all as well.

On the latest update to the Kubota RTV site they have removed the "Hydraulic Lift and One Remote Kit" (V4243) and the "Hydraulic Remote Kit" (V4244) as options. Maybe there's a production problem?

Has anyone purchased or seen a Turf model yet that has the remote already installed?

There was another post from Dozernut last month that had some photos of his RTV900 cab and there was speculation why the doors were black and not orange as shown on their web site. It occurred to me that Kubota might have decided the use black so they could be used on the Camo version as well. The Camo version would look a little hidious with orange doors. I'm not sure if they would offer a steel roof in black to match or that you'd have to use the black plastic roof.

One more question - does anyone know what weight oil comes in the engine from the factory and whether they use UDT or Super UDT fluid in the transmission as a factory fill.

Thanks

The V4243 kit should still be available and the V4244 kit has been put on hold and under review.

The black doors on the hard cab were an executive decsion made at the last minute more than liking during the last dealers meeting. Also, that's a good point about the Camo units...I'm actually not sure what they do about the hard cab with the Camo unit. I have seen a Camo unit with just the dark canopy and hard cab (glass) windshield.

I'll have answers to the oil questions soon.
