Took the RTV up the road yesterday. A good hill on the return. I got it up to about 32 or 33 (needle was in the "H" of the MPH written on the bottom of the speedo. Not sure if it could have gone any faster. The tranny doesn't allow much free wheel and was holding it back.

BTW - When you do get up to full speed, be sure to be very gradual when letting off the accelerator. About a month ago, I had a car coming at me at the bottom of the same hill (where there's a turn) so I let off the gas so we weren't going to pass so quickly at the curve. I only let off about 1/2 way but it was enough to break the tires free and leave a nice skid mark. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It still felt solid and went straight but not sure what would have happened if I was on loose gravel or a non-dry surface.

Kind of interesting how folks are talking about get these units to go faster. I went out and looked at the RTV yesterday at a dealer and was some what dissapointed in how they set these units up. The camo units don't come with a bed lift unless you pay a 1050.00 for an add on. Those beds are really heavy I don't see my wife lift a load of mulch with out a lift. They had 8 units there and 4 different models... some with lifts some with speedometers... confusing which ones had the speedometer... the camo did and turf one did but the others didn't... not sure the combinations are so different and the tires....

The next thing I noticed was the tranny is all one unit connect to the motor... wow if that ever breaks what a nightmare... What is that rubber flap over the battery? It looked like an after thought as it is just intertube tickness and flew out of place after a test drive. The dealer told me that I had to buy a fuel filter as it doesn't come with one from the factory and that would be 30 dollars... now that is interesting.

The unint rode nice except I couldn't adjust the seat for my short legged daughter. Nice machine over all... after I got use to the hydro peddle!

thre camo is the only model with a speedo standard. The others were added by the dealer.
The worksite & the turf model have the hydraulic bed lifts standard too.
About the battery cover. Most others have no cover at all.
About the engine/trans... I don't believe that the engine and trans are one.

I think your dealer is just tying to get another $30 with that additional fuel filter. There's already a factory inline filter installed. The additional filter appears to be more of a water separator/filter that would perhaps be useful in applications where there's a good chance of fuel contamination. If you have a clean source of diesel I don't think it's necessary.

The only RTV900 that comes with a speedometer is the Camo. Your dealer must be accessorizing to get a little more profit.

The engine/transmission may be more complex but it's also more sophisticated and has better performance that a belt drive. Hopefully Kubota reliability will be part of the RTV900 experience as well.

There is a cheaper after market lift from:

About $700.

Edit - I looked at a diagram of the accessory fuel filter and noticed that it doesn't seem to have a drain plug so I doubt that it can be used as a water separator. It just must be a larger filter than the inline stock filter. I still think that under normal operating conditions you don't need the larger filter - only if you operated in a very dusty environment or maybe a situation where your diesel fuel storage might not be the cleanest.

Well, I've had my rims reversed for awhile now. No problems and I'm not getting spray from the tires. Honestly haven't been able to notice much difference with the wider stance. The machine is so stable anyway.

BTW - Fired up the computer this morning (Saturday) and couldn't believe the number of posts from last night. Did everyone east of the Mississippi get rained in last night? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
