When I bought the RTV X1100c last June I had the dealer wait to install the complete K Connect System until November, because I knew it would reduce the ground clearance from 11" to 5 1/2" so that we could take it to Jericho Mountain in New Hampshire in July to go with our Daughter, Son in Law and Grandkids with all their ATV's to ride the trails.
We put 130 miles on the RTV at Jericho and went over just about anything you could imagine. When we returned the Dealer installed the K Connect System and the ground clearance went down to 5 1/2". I used the RTV with the K Connect and the 66" Snow Blower to clear our 700' driveway 7 times and it worked flawlessly.
Once the snow season passed I removed the Snow Blower and that took only a few minutes. I left the K Connect installed with the 5 1/2" ground clearance, and after reading the Manual for the K Connect it sounded intimidating enough that I figured I would leave it installed, because I didn't think the family would be going ATVing this summer.
Well, everyone wants to go back to Jericho Mountain next month so I brought the RTV in the shop and put it on the lift and when you actually look at what is involved to remove the system it is no big deal. I know it takes the dealer 16 to 20 hours to do the installation, but that is because of all the electrical and other things they have to do that you don't have to remove.
Remove 7- 5/16" bolts remove the center skid plate, remove 2 bolts from the units drive shaft from the engines crankshaft pulley, slide the shaft off the splines, disconnect the electrical connection for the electric clutch, remove 6 - 1/2" bolts, (3 on each side of the unit), lower the gearbox with a jack, unhook the 2 front hooks, remove the pin holding the lift cylinder, remove the front connect unit, remove the hydraulic unit reinstall the original front Brush Guard, install two small skid plates and the original plate you removed, reinstall the 7 - 5/16" bolts and go ATVing with your family and your 11" ground clearance.
Have a good day. BucketHoe
