I discovered that if you order all the individual parts for the RTV900 glove box it only cost $42.85. You'll have to assemble it yourself but there really isn't much to it. I've attached the parts list with the quantity and prices for each item.

Tractorsmart allows you to order the parts online. It only cost $5.00 for shipping. I receive four different boxes by FedEx. One each from Ohio, Georgia and Texas. Two parts were backordered so I got the fourth box one week later. I don't see how they can do all that shipping for only $5.00.

I also noticed that you can order all the individual parts for the front storage box for $132 but not sure I even want to spend that much on one.

Edit - Just realized the front storage box sells for $120 anyway so $132 is obiously not a bargin. But the glove box does sell for about $120 when purchased as a kit.

Thanks! I wanted a glove box to fill the hole, but I didn't want to spend what they wanted for one!

Thank you sir!!

I just ordered mine.
Do I assume assembly and installation is self-explanatory?

Brian

PS. Mind if I mention this elsewhere?

I didn't see on the site where you could view a picture of it. Did I miss something?

It definately sounds like a better box then my very disappointing OEM box. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Kevin,

This is the OEM box. The difference being that we're ordering each individual part from tractorsmart and will assemble the glove box when all the parts arrive.

Brian,

I did not know that. In that case I am sorry to say you will probably be disappointed with the OEM box. Not much room for more then a couple of wet tissues. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Kevin,

If I don't like the box itself, I'll use the hardware for what I was really thinking of putting in there. Ever see those 12v coolers that you plug into a lighter or whatever. Hold about a 6 pack. One of those fits nicely in there. It was just too cold this winter to be mounting a cooler.

Sorry - been on a business trip since I posted this - just got back tonight.

It's not rocket science to put this together - I'll scan the diagram in the parts manual and attach to a post.

Here's the "exploded" view of the glovebox.

George,

Thanks for the diagram. I assembled/installed my box last Saturday.

Like Kevin said, it's not very big.

Like lloyd123 said, the packages come via FedEx from several locations. I would venture to guess that the shipping did in fact cost more than the $42 for the contents.

As for the box itself... I'm not impressed. The size is pretty small. The assembly was easy but mounting was a little more work. The wiring harness under the hood needed to be moved some and a dash bolt needed loosened to get it in. Having only 2 horizontally mounting bolts it appears as if it may sag vertically once I put something in it. The box has a lock on it which I found to be worthless. No keys were provided but my ignition key worked. In the locked position, it doesn't come close to securing. I can grab the assembly and with the slightest pull it'll open. Actually, I had to do a little bending just to get it to latch (stay closed). I will need to get this fixed as one of my main intents was to hold a pistol and keep it secure from the kids.
