Ruger P95 Thoughts??

Alright then. I didn't doubt that you knew what you were saying but I'm still confused. That's ok though. It's not the first time.

My opinion...
The G26 is a nice little gun...but it's really too big for pocket carry, so you'd have to carry in a IWB or OWB holster (or shoulder holster, but I don't care for them). So, if you have to carry the gun in a belt supported holster, you might as well carry a somewhat larger gun (the G19). The G19's have a good sized grip (one aspect of the G26 I never liked) so it's easy to draw and hold, but still easily concealled with a jacket or vest.
Again, just my opinion...I know there are a lot of happy G26 CCW guys out there...

BTW, I know some folks do carry their G26 in their pocket...works for them, didn't work for me...

I don't do concealed carry in public. Nothing against it but it's something I don't feel a need to do (yet). I'm sure not going dress around a gun. Sometimes I'll stick a gun in my pocket around the house or property. If it's a large gun and uncomfortable or a hassle to carry I'm probably just going to leave it in the gun safe. But if it is a gun that I can drop in a shirt pocket or pants pocket and forget it's there that's a better choice for me.

Not familiar with it off hand. I carry Glocks because they are so light. Been carrying for almost fifty years and believe me, if its big or heavy, you wont carry it esp. in hot weather. But, I love my Remington 45 govt. for shooting. I carry it around the farm not in town.
I also have a Beretta 92F that holds about 16 rounds. Its put away so I cant remember with all the guns I have bought. I love the feel of the handle and how it shoots, but I prefer .40SM or 45.
My wife and I both have small Glock .40 cals. Light weight, large enough cal to do the job, mine holds 10.
When the Federal law was in effect, no guns holding over 10 rounds could be sold new. If Obama has his way, it will be law again.
So get one now if you want at least one gun that holds a large capacity. But, they are not great for concealed carry. Seven rounds is enough for self defense with a good cal like 9mm or .40. S&W. A guy that carries on duty might want more rounds available therefore, full size large capacity for him. With today's ammo, 9MM parabellum is plenty good enough."unless you live in NJ" You know they wont let you carry hollow points and dont give out permits anyway.:thumbdown: I would not choose 9mmshort(same as .380cal) or .32 cal, or .22 cal. OK for self confidence, but no knock down power.

As noted it is a lot of gun to be priced in the $300 range. I really think many buy guns based on the most for the least. Many buying hand guns today do not have a 'gun' background or care about the specs as long as it shots when they pull the trigger.

Ok, what you were gettin at makes since now. I don't see carrying a G26 in your pocket either. Must be a d*mn big pocket!

I've been looking. Looked at a 380 s&w bodyguard.I just didn't like the trigger. It's a long pull .I guess because it's double action. I'm now looking at the s&w shield as I would also like a little larger round

That long pull is your safety...you do not want a lightened trigger for a self defense gun. In such situations, you're already going to be stressed and you do not want that gun going off too easily.
Frankly, I do prefer a DAO gun (bobbed or shrouded hammer on a revolver) for carry....less likely to snag your trouser pocket and less likely to be fired unintentionally.

I looked and looked for one They are a rare item in my part of the world. I gave up and bought a Kahr PM9 If you can find an S&W shield, you better buy it, even if you don't like it I bet you could get your money back pretty quick.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes. As a trained PO I would not make a habit of carrying a gun in my pocket in the first place. To worrry about snagging a hammer on clothing is a bit moot when you bought a gun intending to carry it in a pocket. That action alone makes for an accidental discharge. More than one Police officer has shot himself trying to get a gun out of a front or back pocket. But, that having been said, thousands of guys will carry a gun that way for convenience. the same goes for .380, .32 cal, or 22 cal guns. They are good for scare tactics but if you have to shoot someone, you dont really want him to be able to shoot after he is shot. That is why cops carry 9mm,40cal, or larger. You need a holster but any of the small "plastic" autos will serve for self defense. Cops are trained not to use pistols with safeties because more than one cop has been killed when in a shoot out because in the excitement, didnt get his weapon to fire due to forgetting to take the safety off.
They use weapons that do not have magazine disconnects because even with one bullet left in the chamber, those weapons wont fire until a magazine is put back into the gun. Little things but time has shown men die because of those little things. I am just telling you what the Secret Service and FBI training says from the experiences gathered throughout the country over decades of time.
It is true that many times you will not want to bother carrying a good weapon in a holster esp. in summer. Those are times when even a Sat. night special 22 cal in a pocket is better than nothing.
Personally, I am superstitious. Due to bad experiences, I feel the one time I carry a little 22, I will walk into a holdup and wish like heqq that I had a real gun with me.
No offense to anyone . We all do what we want in the end and make our own choices for our reasons. Money being the number one reason. By the way, don't ever use +P ammo in a lightweight or airweight .38. I did that once and the round I fired cracked the shell all the way back. It was luck that the cylinder didnt shatter. Live and learn!
