Running used steer tires on a heavy truck. Bad idea??

The tires have a manufactured date stamped in too. I'd check them, and if made within the last 10 years or so, run 'em. If the size is different, I'd swap the pair.

That’s what I planned on doing. It won’t make a bit of difference with the steer tires being a tad bigger than the rears. Putting one on the duels wouldn’t work.

Actually it would work for an empty truck that's just being driven to see if the tires are sound. If one blows, the inside will get you limp home. And, the load condition with still warm up the carcass enough for the evaluation. If it works the change-over will be the easiest procedure.
