I just purchased a 404 from Rural King..along with a 6' brush hog...along with a 6' tiller...and a P.H.D...9" and 12" bits...also has a 160 Koyker loader installed...implements are K.K....pretty well made ..heavy duty...I signed up for R.K`s credit card...and yes it was 10% off the total...which worked out to me getting a free $1400.00 tiller and enough left over for about 6 cases of Budweiser...R.K.O. treated me very courtiousley... I had a few minor problems as with any sort of new piece of equipt...which they resolved immediately...As far as working on my own equiptment and warrenty..R.K.O. stated that that would be fine...As the tractor would be at my farm ...over 125 miles away. They would order replacement parts and ship on an exchange basis...As i type this now they ordered me a steering boot that was damaged in shipping and will send it to me.Would i go back and buy another in any given time?...I would have to truely say"yes"....But bear in mind that not every store or sales person will react the same...Now I will sneak down to my HI dealer and buy a set of Massey decals...Hee,Hee...Gotta love it....Good luck in your future purchase...Sid

Oh and as an after thought...I was going to put $10,000.00 down...R.K.O. manager told me "NO"..0 down...let the $10,000.00 collect intrest in the bank and just make sure you pay it off in the 11th month as there was 0% financeing for 1 year....After that the intrest is about 22.5%...now there is not to many sales people who would tell you that...The store I purched at was in Wooster OH,...It`s in the old Farm and Fleet building on 30 east....Sid

Update on Foton 704 Mid April I took it to Rural King in Martin, TN for repairs. I left a detailed list of problems all except (a grinding in the transfer case) were a lack of prep before sale. I bought a 404 and came home. I was hopeing to get a loader put on the 704 while it was being repaired. I figured a capable person with tools could fix everything in less than a day. Ths Monday the manager said it was ready buty no loader. I went today to pick it up and it wasnt ready. My issue is I left 3 copies of the detailed problems at the store 1 in the tractor and 2 with the management. No one read the list, they done seem to hear me when Im on the phone and standing in front of them is a blur. The noise in the transfer case was a real issue bad bearing had worn a gear. I also had an issue with the 404 NO (tool box, operators manual, cat 1 pins, or arm pins). At 2 hours the fan belt began coming apart from being installed upside down on on e pully and correct on the other and running loose. At 16 hours the fuel filter seems to be stopped up. Rural King doesnt know the cross over numbers for the fuel filter, doesnt have a replacement in stock. The problem is they dont seem to care.
I have 2 new 2005 tractors that are not useable. I cant cut hay and other than this theres little I can do. They already have over $22,000 from me. Bad taste yes,
Rural King is a great place to get some stuff good prices on things like paint and hardware. BUT

The problems with the 704 were grinding in the FDW driveshaft or transfer case. The fuel flip cover jiggled at idle, The hour meter never worked at all but the tach did. When I turned the AC on some marker lights came on. As it turns out the AC was never charged. A leak at the hydraulic pump on the engine. A leak on the right side of the differential from gaskets. A leaking hydraulic line. The hood was hard to open. The parking brake did not always catch.
All but the bad bearing should have been caught when the tractor was preped for sale. By the time its finished my warranty will have expired. I was told by the mechanic they would not expeditie the part so it may be a month.
Yes Im not happy

I believe the cause for the bearing and gear damage on the transfer case is the engagement lever. The lever is not solid you cant definitely tell except for resistance if its in or out. My educated guess is it was partially and that put stress on the parts. It is a defect in design. The only thing I could have done was to crawl under and check to see if it in or out of engagement.
Since this is a FOTON 704 all may be subject to this problem.

I dont hate the Rural King people but this has become a lose lose situation. Presently they are not helpful. They dont expedite anything and have no concept of my needs. I am going to ask for my money back if its not fixed next week.

Thanks for posting your experience with Rural King tractors. I've considered one for a 2nd tractor, but wasn't sure about them. From reading your post, and numerous posts in the Chinese tractor section, it seems to be the norm to have to make a lot of repairs yourself and with considerable frequency. I understand that most of the repairs can be made without a lot of expense, but it seems to be the norm rather than the exception to have to wrench on one.

Since time is very important to me, I'm glad that I've been able to see how the Chinese tractor experience is without spending my money and finding out for myself. In my particular case, it would be a disaster for me to buy one. With everything I have going on at the present time and with my 5 children, it would be a very poor decision for me to buy one. Perhaps sometime in the future when I'm retired and have more time on my hands and the desire to do my own work, but not now. Good luck with getting your issues fixed. It still sounds like a good tractor for the money if a guy has the time and desire to keep up with one and is willing to live with a few "tricks" to operating one.

I hope you get some kind of satisfaction in all this. That is why i said i would redo everything they had done if i bought one from them. I would basically tear it down to the way they bought it(crate form) and redo everything. They won't be selling tractors long if they treat their customers like this.

I think from reading post about RK that some stores are better than others. I wonder which store is the best store to buy a RK tractor?
