A chalk outline of a human body on the sidewalk, and a few copies of The Watchtower scattered around...will get rid of most JW's.

Use white paint, it is more indelible. Also some vacuum cleaner sales brochures in the mix might be helpful and serve a multipurpose.

As a Life and Health insurance salesperson, they encouraged us to make unannounced door to door sales contacts. I have never done that, nor will I ever. For one thing I respect peoples privacy far to much to do that. And another reason is around here in these parts it can get you killed or injured.

It is bad enough to call people on the phone unannounced which I don't like doing either. Far better to let them make the first outreach for information and have their questions answered by a follow up call from me to see if they have an interest.

People that are aging into Medicare NEED the information that I can provide, and they can then make up their own minds on how to proceed, but many do not know what they don't know.

I think I've told it at least once on here in the past, but this thread reminds me of our favorite and most-often retold story about our remote property. Wife and me and her parents (two residences) are 1/2 mile behind a closed and sometimes locked gate. The parents were headed out to town one super-hot summer day and about halfway down the "driveway" on the way out noticed some odd-looking shape off the side of the road. As they drove past, the shape became a portly, red-faced, very sweat-drenched fellow in a suit jacket getting up off the ground to start running after their truck waving his arms. When they stopped to let him catch up and find out what he was doing, they found he was from the insurance company, sent to confirm that they had added the required railings on their front porch.

As he was first arriving at the locked gate, the mailman drove up and (for some inexplicable reason) told him that "oh yeah, the house(s) are just a little ways back behind the gate." As far as we know, the mailman had never been back to the houses. So the insurance man left his air-conditioned car and started to walk back. He made it about half way back in his suit before the heat overcame him and he essentially collapsed on the side of the road. As he told the in-laws later, he did not think he would be able to make it back to his car and was becoming quite panicky. They gave him a ride back to their cabin, got him some ice water, let him inspect the porch, and delivered him back to his car at the gate.

They will never forget the image of the portly, red-faced fellow, running in desperation behind their truck, in his sweat-soaked suit.

You know, I live waaay out in the country and I'm never particularly bothered by folks that drive in and come to my door. They at least acknowledged that they are here. It is those who drive into my yard, park, get out and wander around............ very, very risky behavior.

Wife and I considered buying one of these signs. It fits our personality :D

We had some JW's show up to our house right after we moved in. Not sure what the significance of my question. Never got an answer from them so I made me more curious of what the answer is.

We had one of there temples, churches, not sure what they call it near where I used to live. Building was put up with out windows. Then started noticing that most of there buildings were the same way. No windows

So when they showed up and started there spiel, I asked why there church didn't have any windows?

They handed me there pamphlet, turned on there heals and left. Never been able to get an answer to my question  But then, they never once came back either :D

I wonder what the mormons would do if you asked about their underwear.

Do what I do.......answer the door naked with a cigar hanging from your lips and a beer in your hand........invite them in for a party.

Actually. Some guy(I think it was a cop) ordered a pizza, and then answered the door naked. It was a female delivery person (how odd is that?) and he got charged.
