It started with a distant relative's e-mail from Germany. They wrote that it was their dream to get married in Texas, and if we say yes then the wedding plans will start.

We answered yes, and the plans started. Our yard was picked as the wedding site. Let's get on the TRACTOR and make this dream come true!

They arrived 12 days before the wedding day just enough time to get the marriage license, order flowers, find a German Speaking JP, get a wedding dress for the bride and suit for the groom, rent tables and chairs, get a lot of decorations and lights, order the cake, send out invitations to 50 people, get together a Texas BBQ for after the wedding and get the wedding music set up and learn to dance.

In between driving hundreds of miles to get the above we all worked on the wedding site. We are in a drought and a heat wave, every day the temperature was over a hundred degrees, a drastic change from cool Germany. I asked the bride what she wanted to do if it rains, and she said "let it rain".

15 minutes before the wedding starts a line of welcome showers is seen coming our way and the tables are moved into the TBN garage. The showers cool the air as the final guest arrive and then the rain stops. The wedding begins!! First the flower boy is sent down the freshly laid stone path.

Jim, you just can't say no to a cute 6 year old German boy who insist on being the one to line the stone path with flower petals for his parents wedding.
