Alan B this was a government wedding. We had the cake on the front porch and the champagne toast in the front yard along with the Wedding March and the cotton-eyed-Joe. The Bride and Groom will also have a reception in Germany

Along with the County authentication The German government also required an apostille of the marriage certificate which we got in Austin.

Lasgambler the BBQ was delicious along with the potato salad, coleslaw, green Beans and noodles!

Jim, you are right the rain was welcomed by all and no spirits were dampened.

Rox, the area west of I 35 by Austin is called the Texas Hill Country and is a lot hillier than here, and the Guadalupe Peak is 8749 feet high.

scesnick, according to the Brides Mother rain is lucky and thunder is unlucky, it did both, however it only rained during the actual ceremony.

My second wedding (and the most unlucky) it snowed, sleeted, rained and hail fell, then the sun came out. March can be a cold month and so was the bride.:D

The third was perfect and want to keep it that way, only sun and a cool breeze in june.

I thought Texas was flat

Rox, hadn't you heard that Texas advertises itself as "The Land of Contrast"? Depending on what part of the state you're in, there's sandy beaches on the coast, more inland water acres (reservoirs, lakes, creeks, and rivers, than any other state in the lower 48, forests, plains, desert, and mountains taller than anything east of the Mississippi.

I don't think I ever heard of rain being lucky or thunder being unlucky during a wedding. Our wedding certainly had some unusual aspects. We got married in her Aunt & Uncle's home late one evening and had a house full of friends and family. The preacher got lost, so we began to wonder whether we were going to get married before he found a phone and called for directions (before the days of cell phones). And then the lady across the street walked in the front door with a loaded and cocked .38 revolver in her hand. That caused a little excitement. She said she had heard a noise outside the night before, got the revolver, and cocked it, didn't find anything outside, but didn't know how to uncock the gun. And she knew I, and a cousin, were police officers so she came over for one of us to show her how to uncock the gun.

I don't know if it was lucky or unlucky, but the preacher finally arrived and we've been married 43 year now.:D

Our answer to all their requests was "We can do that!"

The Bride and Groom wanted to do a photo shoot in Houston. I can click and they can pose so they now have another 90 pictures to add to their wedding memories!

They are back on their way to Germany, we will miss them.
