This must have been an incredible thing to see......lots of damage but could have been worse. Ironic that a bigger meteor missed the earth by 17,000 miles the same day.

Now they say the Russian meteor was the largest to hit earth in a century. 55 feet and weighed 10,000 tons.

read all the details...or just believe it ran into the air and over 34 seconds pieces got hot, broke off until the air was like a brick wall and it splattered like a tomato :shocked:

Same reason the shuttle gets hot when re entering atmosphere. Air resistance.

i'm not a moron.. I understand friction... and no.. the space shuttle usually doesn't explode upon re-entry.

Shuttle does not come in at like 23000 MPH either. Nor does the Shuttle have gas pressure building up at it's core like a steam pressure bomb. Those could be other factors.
