Rust on my table saw

This sound like the new way to address rust. The old steel wool or sandpaper and elbow grease approach would give way to a wire wheel in mere moments.

I would use a wire wheel if it was in bad shape but so far I haven't had that much rust to remove. Sand blasting also comes to mind but here in the southwest rust is not much of an issue.

As it appears to be only surface rust, I would soak it with a penetrant [WD40], wait a few minutes and then scrape the residue off with a razor blade and rub out with a medium scotchbrite pad. Clean with alcohol or acetone and coat with a wax that contains no silicone.

Mine rusted up a few times over the years and I used an angle grinder with a wire wheel. Rust came right off very easily then I sprayed it with wd40. It stayed good for quite a while and was nice and slippery. I think I will do it again this morning and try car wax as people suggested because that sounds like a good ides.

If you do ANY fine woodworking I'd stick with either Johnson's Paste Wax or Bioshield T9 (the Bioshield is much faster and lasts longer for me but not as slick).
The paste wax really should be applied over 3days; Apply, wait 24hrs, and buff with 000 steel wool (or 3M equivalent). Repeat X3 coats.

The magic cure for this is to use motor oil and then rub with sawdust. For some really weird and strange reason it works like a charm. Used motor oil works just a well. No need to buy any thing extra, a little motor oil and sawdust from around your tablesaw.

Sand, phosphoric acid, sand and finish with floor wax.

That's what I'd do too but I'd also wash the phospho off and dry it. Phosphoric acid with stop the rust not just seal over it. HD has it by the gallon. I use it all the time restoring metal.

Agree on the paste wax app and method but Jeez! you might be more **** than me.
