Third picture of three is attached. Second picture shows two ponds if you look closely. Third picture is of 5000+sqft hay barn. Just a pixel or two to the right of the hay barn, partially hidden by a small tree is a slight peek at yet another pond. A careful look shows the water and just over the water the dam running rt to left in picture. Boy photos can sure deceive. That pond south of the barn is about a couple acres. The other pounds are respectively about 1/2 acre and about 4 acres but you can't see it all from any one spot. It continues to the right past my mom's house for a little distance but gets narrow up there as that is the "head waters" of the seasonal creek that has three ponds along it spanning a litle over 3 tenths of a mile.

If this hasn't totally confused you, Jim, just let me know and I will try to finish the job.

Patrick

Patrickg,

Looks pretty flat. Is that the plain that the wind comes whippin' down? Not much around here stays flat for quite that distance. Here's a shot down the drive.

Patrick,

Hope these shots aren't too depressing.

I don't think so!!!! From what I have seen, I don't think you need to be worried about people here getting depressed. You might need to worry about giving your location. With 160 ac., a bunch of ponds, and a bunch of people into tractors, I don't think I would let anyone know where I was. Could be a bit like my little brother who came to visit for two weeks and left two months later.

Like I said before, bad non photogenic vantage point. Don't want to get into a "beauty contest/competition" but will need to change locations to give accurate idea about the place. Lots of places near here don't have passing zones for long stretches due to rolling land never being able to see far enough ahead to pass safely (doesn't stop every body).

MarkV, Well if they bring their tractors and an implement or two (including a stout bass rod) maybe there would be no need to hurry them off.

Ever watch the old "DRAGNET"? Like the closing shot with the sweating hand and the stamp that left the imprint

a MARK VII production.

Your place looks a lot like my cousin's place in Paoli, OK (south of you). You have much more green than I have. It's really starting to "brown out" here.

My pond is about 100' diameter and horseshoe shaped. The dozer was going to start around the edge opposite the open end of the horseshoe and push dirt out toward the open end of the pond where some willows and other trees are (see panoramic paste-up attached). By starting at the edge, the dozer operator would keep from sinking into the soft silt. The operator told me probably two days for this job and he wanted to push down some of the trees to make it easier. So, 16-20 hr and about $1,200 to $1,500 was the expected price for this job. Hope this helps. Notice my "red" soil? It ain't OK red, but it is red enough./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Nice photos, Patrick. You are correct that photos are decieving. It's always a struggle to capture 3-D in a 2-D medium. Nice job! Gotta run. I have pilots to train.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Doesn't stop everybody here, either. Dangs fools pass on blind curves going uphill at night. Had a lady decide to pull out and drive in the turn lane yesterday. Would have been fine, except I was in the turn lane going the other way! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I'm just trying to get an idea what kind of terrain you've got. About the only thing I know about Ok is the musical. Went down through Kansas and Missouri. Saw a lot of rock where the road cuts through. We don't see that here. You can go through a cut a hundred feet deep and it's nothing but sand and clay. Keep wondering how anything can grow in places like that. Top soil looks like its about 8" deep then it's just rock to the center of the earth.

South of here it's pretty flat. Lots of big old farms being converted to big, flat subdivisions. North is all trees and hills until you hit the big pond. We're sort of half and half. Most of the county is an old lake bed from the glacier that moved through. As you go east and west about 12 miles, you begin to climb out of it and you can see the terrain and tree cover change. Middle of the lake must have been pretty flat. Sure does roll around the edges though.
