Did you park on a hill? Did you elevate the rear to get enough room to work?
I parked on a hill over a slight depression. Somebody else mentioned taking the rear wheel off. I don't know how they did that but I wanted no part of it.

I recently hit 50 hours and found my hydraulic filters to be nearly impossible to get off as well. Both filters tore, spilling fluid all over my chain wrench and me. I had to pull the rear tire off to get enough room to work... following a trip to town for a 3/4 drive ratchet set. Even with that big set, I still needed a 3' bar attached to get the wheel bolts off. Then I used the largest pair of channel locks I own and barely got those filters off. Hopefully you can get yours loose without pulling the tire, it was the only solution for the mess I had gotten myself into. I read Woodchuchdad's post where he needed a chain wrench, but the one I purchased wouldn't fit inbetween the filters close enough to the base of the filter to avoid crushing/tearing.

My advise, evaluate our experiences and plan for the worst, you'll either be right or pleasantly rewarded with it going great!!:thumbsup:

Was the tractor going up the hill or down?

Other options: park on a side slope with the filter on the uphill side.

Or stick a shop-vac hose in the fill port. This is what I did. It worked very well. Maybe lost a table spoon of fluid.

Just to be clear, the tractor was parked going down?

I'm not understanding what the shop-vac hose in the fill port does.

I would not use the shop vac method for 2 reasons it is not good to pull negative pressure on the transmission the seals are not designed to work with reverse pressure on them, even though it is only a slight amount of pressure. The bigger concern is sucking all of the dirty oil out of your filter and back into the transmission especially if you rupture the filter in the process of changing. If your quick about it, you only loose a slight amount of oil anyways just have a catch pan under the filter when you change it then check the fill level when done. Remember the tractor is designed to work in all angles up hill, down hill, side hill so parking on a hill will do little to lessen the amount of fluid going to the filter.

After buying the Vise-Grip chain wrench and unsuccessfully removing the filters even with a pipe on the wrench handle for leverage, I had a Kioti dealer tech make a farm call this morning. The tech used three different tools and was finally able to remove the filters using the Vise-Grip chain wrench and lots of muscle. He said all tractor brands are difficult to remove the first time but this was the hardest of all.

Given the complaints about this in the tractor forums coupled with my own experience I need to understand why Kioti doesn't make this filter change user-friendly. I've asked my dealer to put me in contact with a Kioti rep. I'll post what I learn.

Well congrats on bein done. I parked with the right side slightly elevated on the hill. I don't it did much of anything to help. I don't think I lost all that much oil so I only topped it up after running and allowing the filters to fill. I had heard about them being painted on and it looked that way. Except the union between the filter and machine didn't show any paint seal. I ran a sharp knife around that whole joint hoping to score any paint that might be there. I didn't look at the mangled filter afterwards to see info did any good. I just inverted the filters to remove what oil I could and put it in my waste drum. I would be interested to see what they say.

Yes, my Kubota L275 4WD has been and continues to be a great tractor. I like to have more than one tractor so I am not changing implements as much. I tell my wife the more tractors I have the less time I spend changing implements allowing me to spend more time with her. She doesn't buy that reasoning.

I use the exact same reasoning...
