Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

Best way to make an offer is just to go in there and say look I'd like to buy your 5203. Here's what I'm willing to offer. I am going to buy one either from you or the next guy. If they say no get up and walk out to the next dealer. 15% off of list is not asking alot. If you were closer I could get you that deal with a number of dealers.

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

I don't know how set you are on the 5203, but I bought my 5103 w/ a 286 bushhog for 13,500. The tractor was only 12,500. A couple extra horsepower is not worth 3k to me. I would pay about 14k for that tractor w/out the accessories.

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

Not really set on the 5203 just making sure I have enough power to pull a 8ft bushhog. Which is one of the main reasons for wanting a bigger more powerful tractor. My NH TC35 has 30 pto hp and pulls a light duty cutter really good but it takes awhile. The 5 acre field that is attached in the first post takes a while to clip and on a hot summer day it will take the fun out of driving. Then you add the other 10-15 acres of pastures it gets to be a job fast. If the 5103 will handle a 8 bushhog and a few other tools for field planting and harvesting. I'm all for saving money trade in on the tc35 is going to be around 9000 so the closer to that figure the less i have to borrow.

Thanks once again,
Tater

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

You should be able to get a 5303 for about $16K or a little under that...that price seems a little steep for a 5203. I'd expect to pay around $14-14.5K for a 5203.

Also, around these parts, dealers in the area have alot of lease/rental units that are up for sale, lots of them with anywhere between 100-200hrs. They are last year's tractor, but you can get a 5303 for around $14K. Keep units like this in mind if you can tolerate a slightly used tractor for a lower price.

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

Also ask the dealer for a demo. Make sure the tractor does what you need. I know (from experience) that the 5x03's produce on the high side of the ratings, so you'll have plenty of power.....plus more torque than you're used to. Torque will keep it from pulling down in tough spots.

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

Turk do you think the 5103 will handle the mx8 in my area? doc suggested the 5303 which i think may be a little over kill. I was thinking the 52 was a good compromise.

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

I suggest you go talk to your dealer....it's free. The only difference between the tractors is a small amount of hp and the rear tire size. It is likely you won't notice any difference in your applications. Ask for a demo on your farm with the mower you're looking at or equal. Try it for a weekend if possible. This lets him know you're serious. My guess is that any of the three tractors will do what you want. You may spot something else being different....something that only you know/feel. Go for it!

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

I would say $14,700 for the base machine with an added remote. You can usually get the tires filled for less than the dealer. I wouldn't even worry about throwing that in. I would get front weights for that tractor though. It is a little light in the front end.

Re: ?\'s regrading the 5x03 series

doc I read in another post that you have 8 plates on the front of your 5303. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif What are hooking up too it to need that much weight and does the front end get light? I was thinking of getting 2 or 3 plates but now i'm a little worried. I'm more than likely going to go look a 5203 over real good and maybe "test drive" in a couple of weeks. I will more than likely drive the salesman nuts with questions but that should help clear up so of this stuff. My first trip out there i was looking at the 05 & 25 series in the 05 he priced a 5105 to along with a mx8. So he may well suggest going with the 5103. I looking around now at 8 foot cutters trying to get the best bang for the buck. The MX8 is going to be $5200.

Thanks,
Tater
