I don't know that I have ever seen a gun be as devisive as the Judge. It seems as though it is either hailed as the ultimate personal defense weapon or dismissed as an utter waste of steel and dollars. It's got to be up there with the "Love it/Hate it" of all things firearms.
I don't own one, but I would like to someday. I think that they are pretty neat weapons. I've gotten to shoot one that a friend has and it had a pretty good feel to it. He keeps his loaded with with 1 round bird shot, 2 rounds PDX (I think - is that the one with little discs and bbs), and 2 round 45 lc, and keeps it by his bedside.
I honestly have no idea how the .410 compares to .357 or .45acp or .44 mag (I'll assume unfavorably, at least in terms of sheer stopping/killing power). And I doubt that the spread of a .410 shot/PDX round is that great in a short distance, but I bet it's more than a single bullet. And of course, you could always be concerned about if you miss, where is your bullet going (I'm thinking of an apartment/duplex situation here).
I guess I would rather be shot with a .410 shotshell than a .357 magnum round, but I don't think I would enjoy being hit with either (and maybe that's why I don't go into people's homes unnannounced at 2:30 in the morning).
Whether or not you like the judge, I sure enjoy the debate that it has created.
Good luck and take care.
