Sabre Samurai Cutter attachment

Louie, look on the picture; those holes are to LOCK OUT the breakaway feature.

Thanks Steve - I wondered if those were for some kind of breakable pins, or something. I have my original bracket to use if I don't want the break-away feature. There appears to be additional holes to lock in the 90ー position.

Just to make things easier, I put Pioneer couplings on the unit, so at least I am not struggling with the hoses in addition to the mount and sickle.

I see modest hose and worm clamps in the picture. It gives me hope that this just might work on my Steiner with very limited hydraulic power.

I implemented your suggestion and installed fasteners onto the sickle bar. Thanks!

I use 1/4 inch hoses with flow restrictors to slow down the tooth speed.

I would be tickled pink if I could use this on my Steiner.

Given the modest flow requirements, I should have gone smaller on hoses and fittings. I too use a flow control. If I had used smaller hoses and fittings, the weight might not have been a factor requiring couplers.

PLEASE report your experience with the knives.

Old thread, but any updates? This still seems to be the only semi affordable tool to trim trails, road sides, and banks. I hate toys though, and this seems like it might be a bit light duty. I have bamboo next to my driveway, and would love to be able to keep it at bay during the Summer. I too would love to run it on my old Steiner, and / or my loader tractor.
It seems like salvaging a heavy duty old sickle mower and adding a hydraulic motor (easier said than down in I’m sure) may yield a more heavy duty unit?

I've been kicking the idea of a fork attachment style trailblazer attachment for several months. I have no experience with either, but this 'seems' like it may be heavier duty. TRAILBLAZER-HD for TB-2020 – STOUT DESIGNS, LLC
Runs on it's own lawn mower engine, so no hydraulic mods to worry about.

I don't have a cab, is falling debris a concern I should be worried about?

I have one set of remotes on the rear of my tractor. There is a lever for them next to the seat. Could I use these to power the Samurai sickle mower?

That's what I did on my B26 when I first got the samurai and it worked just fine but was a pain to connect and run the hoses up front so I could see what I was doing. I also used the RPM's of the motor to control the speed of the cutters. I later added forward remotes and connecting it was a lot easier. I now use a 7 foot sickle bar on front of my L45 so the little samurai has just sit in my shed for a couple years.

I'd be interested in the details of the 7' sickle bar, and since we're both in AL, might even be interested in the unused samurai?
