Safe & correct attachment of implements to PTOs

/ Safe & correct attachment of implements to PTOs #11
Just something else to consider. Take the time to make sure your PTO shaft is the right length. The after market companies normally make them a little longer to fit the wide variety of tractors built. We often have to shorten them to be sure they don't bottom out and cause damage to the tractor and blower driveline.

Re: Safe & correct attachment of implements to PTO

I guess I am just plain "chicken." I leave my tractor running to hook up my 3pt hitch. But...when it comes time to hook up my PTO, I shut the engine down and make sure everything is hookup correctly before I start her back up. Sometimes you only get one chance to do it right.

Re: Safe & correct attachment of implements to PTO

When I was growing up we had a MF 130 with horizontal exhaust and I did have the engine running when I hooked up to the 3 point but I was GLAD to shut it down to connect the PTO - coff coff!
