I've worked around heavy equipment most of my life and I can verify for you that hydraulic failures can and do happen that way. When a catastrophic failure happens, you won't know about it until it is on the ground. I have seen it happen many times.
Yea right. I have blown many a hydraulic line. How much weight will also dictate the rate of fall. I am not climbing under my bush hog or my 30' wide disk. But a new empty loader on my 5075E to blow the coolers and service the air filter? Not going to worry about that one.
