Thanks for the replies.

Interesting the ideas about chaining the hitch down on the trailer as well. Never thought about that and have used the setup a few years without issue. Thanks for the idea.

@LouNY I like your setup. Did you make the hitch or buy it?

Built it, it's a multi purpose hitch.
Drawbar (bumper type) or gooseneck and also used for pulling.

You're thinking of the trailer safety chains. The OP is asking about a chain to keep the 3pt from being forced up by the trailer.

I believe you should reread the OP’s first post!
Why would he consider trying to use the “too short” trailer safety chains to do as you suggest.
Your point of needing to tie down the 3ph as it has no restrain from raising in normal operation other than weight on the 3ph. It is not what the OP asked about from my reading of his post.

For solution to OP first post on trailer safety chains to short, put a set of loops at end of receiver to accommodate "road" chains on trailer....

And YES chaining down 3PH would also be good idea...

And if chains drag, use bungee cord to support them...

IF chains still to short add a few links...
