PTO shafts can be killers. Last year about this time there was a terrible accident at the place next to my brother-in-laws. A man, who had worked around machinery most of his life was running a tractor powered sawmill one day all alone. He must have gone behind the tractor to check something out and his clothes got caught on the PTO shaft.
When he didn't show up at home his wife asked my brother-in-law to go check on him. When he and another fellow got up to where he had been working it was now dark. They found his body stripped of his clothes pretty well mangled wrapped around the PTO shaft.
It was not a pretty sight, one my brother-in-law will not soon forget. They figure it took only a second or two for the whole thing to happen once his clothes got caught.
These safety tips are a good remonder how fast an accident that takes one's life can happen.
