SAFETY TOE BOOTS OR NOT.

U know, I'm 80+ and never had a pair of safety shoes.
Now I did 15+ yrs of renovation, all sorts of crazy jobs and never had a foot injury.
Also have trampled loaded containers many times.
BUT THEN I look where my feet are going!
Perhaps it comes from my hunting days in very dense bush but whatever it has served me well.

LOL, my wife can't walk 3 feet without tripping over a small twig.
It's all about good habits and possibly a juvenile occurrence that stays with U.

My friend's father went the other extreme. He used to mow his lawn barefoot.

Bought a pair of Ariat Spot Hog boots. Six inch, pull-on type. Romeo boots, in some places. I am in and out all day, and hate doing up laces every time. I don’t do construction or heavy stuff, just field work on a small orchard/farm. These are light-weight, no safety toe, and quite possibly the most comfortable boot I have ever worn.

Maybe people need to pay less attention to making videos and taking selfies. Stupid Humans!

Wore my possibly thirty year old prospector boots today. Non Steel Toe. Still in good shape except no tread left. I would like to find a source for another pair. That's another thing. the Ridiculous tread patterns on many boots. I want a boot, not a heavy off road mud and snow tire!

^^^^^ that’s a problem for sure. Boot makers seem to be forgetting people walk in and out of homes, shops, offices. Those big lugs track in a mess and actually have little traction on hard surfaces. Hard to find good boots with soles that do not track.

There was one time I wish I did not have a steel toe. I have shoes with a steel toe because i feel they're safer. I forgot I was wearing them when I walked thru the metal detector at the airport.

I've hated steel toes since they wore my legs out looking for a calf. If I'd hit my toe with a chainsaw I'd probably change my mind.

When I was doing powerline maintenance walking several miles per day cutting brush from under the wires, my employer didn't require steel toes because they said that your feet need to be comfortable and they had never had anybody cut their foot. We were just dropping brush up to 40 feet tall though, not working up close as you do when limbing or bucking the trees.
