Salida Colorado, we're on our way!!!

Just got back last week from 4 days in Ouray. Lots of hiking and 4 wheeling. Very interesting place with the old gold/silver mines. Saw a bear on the way down from Yankee Boy Basin. Telluride was pretty with the Bridal Vale falls on the east end of the valley. Corkscrew/California Gulch and pass were great. Last Dollar road out of Telluride was very pretty also. Ohir pass (west to east) was fantastic. We still have places remaining that we want to explore. If you happen to be flying into Telluride, be aware that the airport is closed until Nov 3. They are resufacing the runway.

I've been on all of those trails. They are awesome.

We really liked Ouray. Beautiful town in an amazing setting. I could see spending a week there to explore the countryside on fourwheelers and having a great time!!!!

as usual or shoud I say typical another nice roundup of your trip. I remember reading about your trip to California. I'm glad you and Steph got to see a waterfall on your vacation.

Thanks Rox,

It's hard for us to go to Colorado and not think of the water falls!!! This trip is actually an extension of our wedding trip. While there that time, we found out about Pikes Peak and Royal Gorge Bridge. Both are places that I've wanted to see since then. One trip always leads to other trips!!!!

Eddie. looks like we crossed paths in CO. We were there 7/31-8/8. Started with 3 days in/around CO Springs and the rest of the time in Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park. I drove to the top of Pikes Peak on a solo trip about 10 years ago, this time we took the train. It was crowded and uncomfortable but I was able to enjoy the view instead of watching the narrow road. We can't wait for our return trip, maybe we'll hit the SW part of the state.
I don't have my pics uploaded yet but here are some my kids took if you can't get enough of Colorado :)

Great pics. Where were the sheep at? We were hoping to see some rams, but it never happened.

Your description of the Cog Railway up Pikes Peak is what made us change our minds about taking it. Being able to stop when we wanted to take pictures was also another important factor.

2 places actually. The rams with the fully formed horns were inside Garden of the Gods. they were just laying in a small grassy area. We saw the others as we were leaving the RMNP. There is a low area with a lake (Sheep Lake) and the sheep come down from the mountain for water. Our timing was perfect and we were there for the crossing. They actually had people acting as crossing guards to stop traffic.

I hope you enjoyed your trip as much as we did!

We thought about going to the Garden of the Gods, but really never got excited about it. The brochure and info that we found on it online didn't show us anything that we haven't seen anywhere else. If I had known there were rams there, that would have changed everything!!! Of course, with wildlife, it's always a gamble on what you will see.
