Cindi, if you submit anything to Successful Farming, and they promise to pay you for publishing it, DON'T PLAN ON GETTING PAID.
Back in October 02 Paula Barbour, one of their eidtors, promised to pay$75- for something of mine they published, and I still don't have the check.
All I got was a hustle letter from Roger Welsch, another of their editors, wanting to sell me a "male survival kit".

I think I know Roger Welsch. I think I've been to his forum. Isn't he the tall tales guy? Well, too late, I already submitted the C Wars. You're suggesting I get paid up front?

Is this him?

I submitted a few stories there and they seemed well enough received, but I can't do the tall tale thing.

What did you submit? Do you still have a copy of it? I'd love to read it. Was it technical or humor or what?

I liked your story of "Sam". It serves as a reminder that pet ownership is a serious undertaking that comes with a financial responsibility. I am so happy that "Sam's" story had a happy ending. I feel for all the poor animals that are not as lucky. My wife says I care more about animals than I do other people...I tell her I take that as a compliment. I agree with the others, you have a gift when it comes to writing...a gift that should be shared with others. Take care...

Cindi,
Your story reminded me so much of my dog,Buddy. We adopted him on a Sunday, the day before he was to be euthanized. He is a Retriever/Shepard mix. I think they said he was 4½-5 months old at the time. I could never imagine what posessed his previous owners to take him to the shelter, but they did. And I thank them to this day that they did.
He was house broke and knew several commands the day we met him. But the great part was, he had was able to go to a new home, where he'd never be abused and he was loved. Sam must have met the same fate.
I have never printed out a post from TBN for my wife to read until today. When she read it, she just looked at me with tears in her eyes and said....."God bless that girl".
See the attached pic of Buddy who will be 2 years old tomorrow.

You are a talented writer and I wish you every success in getting published and paid.

And I think you are right on target about life experience, it takes a lot to get to the point where you have something to say, you are clearly there.
