Should the serial numbers on the engine match the numbers on the frame, trans.rear end or whatever you call it? thank`s Jim

I don't have a definitive answer, but my experience working for a manufacturer of serialized production units tells me that it would be a rare coincidence if they did - especially if different models happened to use the same serialized components. Under those circumstances it would be virtually impossible to coordinate serial numbers across model lines.

Even within the same model, if any serialized component had to be pulled from production, e.g., for MRB action, then the serial coordination with the other serialized components of that end item would be lost.

We were required to maintain permanent records identifying by serial number all serialized components which went into the end item. I don't know if tractor manufacturers have a "Federal Tractor Agency" looking over their shoulder like the FAA looks over the shoulder of aircraft manufacturers.

I don't think so. There is no match in these charts for YM240. (US version of YM2000).
