I am sure one of the reasons I enjoy the aforementioned work is that I dont HAVE to do it, and can set my own pace and schedule.
A good example - I dont mind repairing my own cars IF I am not pressured.
I remember being much younger, married, with small children and having to fix my car because I could not afford to pay someone else to do it.
Being under a car at 1am because you have to go to work the next day is decidedly 'unfun'.
But still, I have to say, the sense of satisfaction I felt after the job was done was profound.
What do you call those days? Character building life experiences?
Pre-millennial's
Started working on cars at 8 or 9, worked at service station at 11, and definitely laid under the car, in the winter, 1am, had to get to work and school.- Kids look at me like I am insane when I say an such things. Now the law forbids it.
