I get "the more power the better thing" but it seems like the balance would suck.

Just as an update , the balance is as good as My 372 . In short , it's neither nose or tail heavy . Hopefully this is the last saw I that I will lust after :)

Thank You Sir . I brought the 390 home this afternoon . Got it for a fair bit under MSRP even after State sales tax . She seems to be fairly beastly even though it's set a bit rich for break in . The one thing that has surprised Me so far is that it's got a fairly active chain oiler .
I had to turn it down to the minimum setting as it was pumping oil every where otherwise .

Nice! Let us know what you think of 'er after putting it in some wood. I don't personally have much time on the 390, will look forward to your impressions.......

As to break in, I'd run it on regular dino mix for the first few tanks and not TOO rich either, to set the rings properly. A little richer than norm is OK, but you can run it too rich and not achieve good seal on the rings. After a few break in tankfuls you can switch to synth oil for the rest of it's career. My .02. Oh no.......hope this doesn't decend into an "oil thread"...:)

Good oiling is better than the alternative. What size bar? I find that I have to turn down the oiler on my 371 unless running a 24"+ B/C setup. The Husky oilers seem to have no problem putting out the goo IME. Good luck with the new toy, er tool. ;)

Well , just had a tri-axle load of wood delivered a few days ago . It's a mix of Ash , red oak ,cherry ,osage , and a bit of silver maple . So far , I've only cut about about a cord with it .
My impressions are based on the other saws that I own . I'd love to be able to compare it vs an MS 660 ,and a 395 XP .
First of ,I'm using it on logs that are delivered and stacked . I wouldn't want to use it to delimb a felled tree for any length of time . If I was going out and felling trees for fire wood , I'd go for a smaller, lighter saw .
Comparing it to My 044 ,or 372 is kind of unfair considering how I intend to use it .
I'm just blocking logs for firewood . The extra weight ( which doesn't really feel all that great ), the extra displacement , and the 8 pin vs 7 pin drive sprocket make it an unfair fight . The 390 wins hands down . It just kind of drops through the logs .
As far as vibration when in use , it's as good or better than my other saws .
If I've left any thing out , just ask . I'm more than pleased with this saw .

I'll try to post a few pics later on .
