In my opinion you never stop learning, when it comes to welding.

Anyone who worked as a welder as long as you, and makes welds as good as you, cant say their a hack.

I'll give you the weekend bit, but "just a hack" is B.S. You've already turned your hand when you told us that you welded professionally "back in the day".

I do admire your attitude, though, that everyone can learn.

You are playing semantics and being overly modest. No one said you know it all - the wisest person knows they don't know it all. It is the fool that thinks they do.

I'd put you in the 1% while the rest of us are in the 99%. There may be a few more skilled weldors out there but you are among the elite.

:laughing: Kind of hard to judge the size of any of it without a reference. The zoom on it had me thinking it was some big pipe. haha Thats an awesome bead :thumbsup:

I made a mistake this morning, the wall thickness is .276 inch. I hadn't touched my AutoCad in the longest time, so I thought I draw out the joint prep I use for Tig welding the root and hot pass on pipe.

Not too many. Also on welding web, most people I have seen who really know their stuff, are not that helpful. I never even go on weldingweb anymore, as I can get better answers, without the flaming here.

See!!! There's the proof. Most of us will admit that the more we learn the more we realize we don't know. Therefore if you are more amazed than the rest of us at what you don't know, then you must know more than the rest of us.

I rest my case.

But, seriously... keep the tips, advice, and test results coming. Maybe someday I can be good enough to not know as much as you don't know.
