Well I hope they're all goodies anyway? I went to check out a wire feeder a fellow had for sale today and ended up buying it and trading for a couple others. The wire feeder is a Lincoln LN-25, ended up getting it for 300. Looks like it's been painted at some point but I think it all works. Also came home with an old short hood SA200(horse traded for it) and a pocon plasma cutter I gave 200 for. The cutter is similar to the wire feeder and is run from a DC welder, and it seems to work good. Got a few consumables with it too. The SA isn't running, but the motor is free, not sure what to expect on the generator end? Hopefully its something that can be restored, and is worth doing so... Hopefully. Got a couple pics, woulda got more but I stuck my tractor, then stuck my truck tryin to get it out and the welders still in my truck:thumbsup::laughing:. Guess that can be another thread lol. Anyways here's a couple pics- hoping I have time to play with them after I get my truck unstuck tomorrow eve! Any suggestions on where to start with the SA200?? image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

The welder was owned by a farm for a long time. It has good oil in it but the air cleaner is missing. Looks like it has a main seal leak too, and the radiator has a ugly repair on it with a slow leak. The governor is missing some pieces, rusty sheet metal...

I downloaded the manuals for both of the Lincolns and best I can tell I don't think the LN-25 has the internal contactor. Not sure if it's going to be very useful to me or not, but I'll try it out anyway.

Is the SA gas or diesel? How many watts is that thing?

Continental 4cyl gas, I think it's similar to the old ford 9n. Not sure on wattage, I think it's rated at 200amps.

First thing on the SA-200. Is take the covers off the generator, and look for rats nests. Then make sure the brushes move freely in there holders. Stumpfs welding supply has commutator stones. If you call Stumpfs most likely they will have your missing governor parts. You can ask about the air cleaner, but I've seen them go for over $400.00 on ebay. When you get it running, one thing that is really nice to have is a Cable remote. Saves trips back to the welder to adjust.

I'd be surprised that the LN-25 does not have a contactor! It has a Mig gun on it now, and I can see the gas fittings. Very unusual for the black LN-25s not to have a contactor. If not it won't take long to get use to having the wire hot at all times. When the LN-22s came out, they didn't have contactors in them.

Ok thanks for the info and links! I'll start reading up this evening. The guy that had the equipment had taken the air cleaner off this welder to put on another one, so I don't think it had been run without a filter. Maybe I can find a similar more modern canister filter like off of a commercial lawnmower or tractor. A slip on k&n type filter might be ok too, but I'm not crazy about the amount of fine particles they let in. It looks like the ignition is 6v, I'm wondering what all is involved with swapping over to 12v? Even the frame is pretty rough with welds, and a missing crossmember under the gen end. I may just fab up a new frame to start with if the other major items test ok.
Don't know if you can tell from the pics but the LN25 has been painted black. I'm guessing it was originally grey because the inside of the door is grey where they didn't paint it. Lookin forward to playin with it too!

Here is link to Bill's welding equipment repair. Bill passed away a few years ago, but his daughter Kaye is running the business now. She knows everything there is to know about SA-200s. Dig around on Bill's site, there is a lot of information about SA200s there.
