True - but that was the eighties when everything was getting neutered. Look at Dodge's Charger then. Yuk! Now we have an era of re-releasing the classics:
Camaro, Mustang, Charger, Challenger, Bronco - the "new" ones are awesome. There is always argument over the original and new performance, but really the new muscle cars are pretty cool.

But the Blazer? Take a rugged off roader with removable top and re-release as a cross-over SUV? Bad Chevy! Bad!

Too bad you have to have a bottomless wallet to put weasel pee in them today.

What about that sorry-@ssed Nova GM came out with in the 80s that was nothing but a re-badged toyota? Suzuki?
What was worse was that the marketing for the "new" Nova dissed the old one, which was a pretty solid car!
Well, I owned 4 Nova's from the 60's and 70's. They were extremely fun to drive, but, in all honesty, they were not pretty solid cars. They were unibody construction, with mostly vinyl interiors. They were economy cars.

With that said, I'd like to have another one some day. :)

I can pretty much guarantee that anyone who grew up in the 70's and 80's remembers following a Nova dog tracking down the road, similar to this.

The post 1979 Nova was their attempt at a more fuel efficient car to compete with the likes of Nissan and Honda four cylinder econoboxes. It wasn't a bad car, imo, but it was a different car design than the mid 1970s Nova. My aunt had a 1960s four door Nova that was the typical economy car of that era. It was even different than the 1970s versions that ranged from stripped down economy models to more deluxe offerings.

I also think I remember there being a IH diesel scout.

And there was the IH pickup and a Travelall.

Its hard to stir the pot when you are floating in it, but it doesn't stop some people from trying.

I absolutely love having something I don't want slowly shoved down my throat. I love seeing the advancements in technology, and want the industry to succeed, but I don't want an EV. It feels as though in a decade it'll be the only option.
Not going to work for those of us in the rural west unless the battery range is doubled.

I owned a 73 Nova and have to agree: they weren’t very good cars.

Sadly, our government has everything to do with the price of oil by increasing regulations, canceling drilling permits, canceling the pipeline, canceling loans and outright declaring that they will cancel the oil industry. To believe that the price of oil is based on the market would mean ignoring everything that is currently being done to restrict drilling in the US where we have more oil then every other country out there. There is so much known oil available that there is no reason for it to cost over $40 a barrel, or have to import it from Russia or Iran.
If oil production is being restricted, why is US production for 2022 and 2023 forecast to be at record levels?

Welcome to the age of tracking, monitoring and the exclusion of the above average man the ability to afford and maintain. The person that supports the destruction of the internal combustion engine industry as a trade off for a political mans wealth is a lunatic. Your descendants will suffer.
Probably the same thing was said about the horse and buggy transportation in the early 1900s.

Sorry, but you have it backwards. Politicians use the media to make you think it is the companies. Use the noggin, prices are very high, production would be high, too. The companies had not already dealt with the BA pulling the rug out on already established deals. They are not about to invest billions into exploration or exploitation only to have it happen again. Basic economics would preclude holding back on production because prices are high. High prices lead to increased production...Ceritus Paribus.
Companies are investing billions and are producing more oil this year than ever before.

I'm in rural Maine; add cold weather to the need to travel distance to do the basics, I'm not too enthused.
