I made mine out of old re-bar , Its 7 feet wide and 5 feet front to back and it will just shaves those little high spots and I pull it both ways, This is one of the better working attachments I have made, I love it.
It drags dirt off the highs and fills the lower ones. Take a look at northerntool.com they have a small version of the one I built almost 15 years ago and I still think they got the idea from me? LOL

I’m not sure if I have a close up of my leveler but one picture is of my dad using my leveler to pull manure out of one of my poultry barns and the other is a closer picture of when I used it to smooth gravel when we built our manure shed. Most the time we use it to level the barns out after we are done cleaning them. It makes the litter in the barns as smooth as can be by knocking off the high spots and filling in the low spots. I have also used it for smoothing roads and dirt. It does need a hydraulic remote from your tractor to raise and lower the blade. My brother and I built this one for about $400 but they cost about 2000 new. I couldn't do without it.

This sounds like something I may want to do. How deep did your blades cut?
Any adjustment you would make after seeing how it worked?

Since the whole thing basically just skimmed over the roadbed the blades merely extended the cross timbers by 3/4" essentially to prevent the wood from wearing away.

I had cut notches in the lengthwise side pieces to 'lock' the cross or cutters before bolting the scraper together,

To fab another today I would simply weld up a bunch (5 pieces) of 4" angle with the cutters having the leg facing downwards and the other 2 lengthwise to position the blades.

Because of weight distribution spread over three cutters in contact with the roadbed, the front cutter works the hardest but did not really dig much as the other two kinda set the debth parameters.

Believe me 2 passes on a muddy pot holed rutted road would turn out about as slick as a paved roadbed.
It just tops bumps, skims stock to fill the holes and ruts.
For optimum results we'd make passes shortly after a light rain as the moved about stock would pack down best.

Will try to attach a sketch.

HEY--IT WORKED!

Note that the pulling is from the left side of sketch.
Graded material from front blade drops back, spills out and is caught by the 2nd blade and 2nd blade spill out is caught by the rear which acts as the smoothing or finish blade.

As sketched adding some weight on the right front side (top of sketch) would cause when dragging on the right side of a roadbed a bigger bite thus crowning the center which would be the left side of grader.
The back blade also spills over to the left leaving any risidual scrapings in the center of the roadbed.

We discovered that snagging, say a imbedded stump or protruding rock , would cause the whole grader to jump up abruptly (scary) so we added old tires in the pull chain lines to act as shock absorbers, Worked!

As mentioned earlier, this rig served wery well for about 12 years or so.

Naturally to work correctly the width of this design needs to be just a tad wider than 1/2
the width of the roadbed.
