The only way to truely know, is to climb a tree before dark where you heard the sound. Once it gets pitch black and the screach starts under the tree, drop down on it and hang on tight. If it's sasquatch he'll just throw into the woods. If it's something smaller you'll probably just get bit, scratched and beat up a bit. Oh yeh if you can have someone video it for us

I vote fisher cat. Keep your small pets ..dog or cat or livestock inside .. your cat will go to investigate cause it will think it is a feline in heat then goodbye kitty.

Fox.

We have a family of foxes that has been denning up about 600 feet from the house most springs for years. I usually hear them in the spring when I leave the windows open at night. They use our driveway, tractor trails, and property lines as the Fox Super Highway aka FWH.

They used to use the FSH to raid someone's chicken's to our south west. Charlie got quite a few chickens one year. :licking: I saw him running west on the FSH while cooking breakfast one morning. 30 minutes later he was running east with a white hen. :licking:

I don't know if the chicken owner ever provided a coop and run for the hens or if the fox ate them all. I have not seen evidence of the foxes eating chickens in years.
