SCUT: Massey / Iseki vs. Kubota / Kubota

Why is the thumb a must? I am asking because I wanted to pickup stuff and move it around as well. I ended up with a grapple, I really don't know if a thumb would be more easy but it would be hard for me to imagine. That grapple is pretty darn nice.

Backhoes without thumbs are useless unless all you do is dig holes. A thumb allows the operator to curl the bucket and grasp thins like logs, stumps, rocks, whatever. =)

That grapple should be all you need, however to pick up rocks or small stumps may be hard on it and damage it not sure.

For me the thumb would be all I need and cheaper but obviusly won't do what the grapple will....they are really nice attachment.

I bought a 2010 GC2610TLB. The Deere was too much money. I liked the Bobcat a lot but hated the add-on hoe. I was going with the Kabota until the Massey dealer phoned and lowered the price. I wanted the higher loader capacity which I l wish was higher yet. I really wish the loader would go another 100lbs. and that's my only complaint with the machine.

Have you had a chance to play in the dirt with them yet? You really should spend as much time as possible on them, seeing which one ultimately feels better to you after use. Obviously, what you'll be able to do at the dealership will be quite limited, but it's a big decision, Red vs Orange ... so get the one that feels the best.

As an aside, my buddy and I joke around about the mythical paint properties of both big Orange and Massey Red. Obviously, it's pretty common knowledge that big Orange paint is enhanced with properties such as pixie dust and unicorn tears. However, it's a little-known fact that Massey takes the Kub paint, bakes out all the impurities, infuses it with Cayenne pepper and a drop of demon blood... and what's left is a beautifully burnt-Red finish.

All of those numbers and specs add up to mumbo-jumbo, but the real story of the machines reside in the paint.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a h ell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
